Thread: Detailed Canon printer question about ink.

Detailed Canon printer question about ink.

Anyone here know the answer? I've tried Google, of course!

Two different bottles of black ink here, both Canon, both black. Is there any difference between the inks? There is a difference between the bottles - the newer style on the left has a nozzle that will only fit the black ink tank in the printer in order to prevent putting the wrong ink in a tank.

I guess my question should be, "Can I use the older bottle of ink (on the right) in my new printer?"

    Thank you!

I would imagine so provided the nozzle size is the same. Cartridge suppliers normally have a way to look up your printer to get the compatible inks. If you check here https://www.canon-europe.com/sds/gi-series/ the constituent parts look identical. You could always use a syringe to refill the new style from the old one if it is a sizing issue.

I'd ask Canon (if they will say). Could be different formulation which won't work well in 'wrong' printer.

Thank you for the replies - I'd given up hope!
