    A little swinging for the W/E - Friday Watches - March 2022

March. It was a looooong time ago. So long ago I only have vague memories of what happened. All I will say about it is that March hares appear remarkably sane when compared to WIS/Scalpers/Instagrammers on release day of a non LE, plastic in house homage.

The overwhelming clamour for March's results necessitates that I try (yet again) to keep it brief so that you can get your long overdue fix.

March was a month of four Fridays, over which a total of 563 watches were shown from a diverse 126 brands. The low numbers caused the weekly average to fall fifteen down to 140.75.

The battle for supremacy was a bit of a one sided affair with Rolex coming top each week and, apart from on the 11th, by some margin. They reached a weekly record for the year of twenty eight on the 25th. Omega and Seiko were left to scrap over second and third spots except for the 18th when Timefactors sneaked in to second with a new record weekly high of fifteen. Seiko had a shocker on the 25th only reaching eight, one off their record weekly low.

Another poor performer were Sinn who scored their record monthly low of nine, only just holding on to tenth place in March's leader board. I had got the impression that, recently, there were fewer Sinn and this goes to re-enforce that impression. I might try to do some analysis next month to see what the numbers say. Conversely Marathon had a good month breaking their monthly record with four watches being shown in March.

As already mentioned we saw 126 brands which is only a couple fewer than in February. Of these twenty nine were new to the thread this year (including A-13A, Ball, Davosa, and Linde-Werdelin which surprised me a little). Seven brands were new to the Friday thread with our first Prim in the form of Vekslak's nice example, our first Mathey-Tissot and even Christ made an appearance.

paw3001 opened his account to regain the WCWOTY award with his lovely salmon dialed Kurono-Tokyo. Redwolf's Favre Leuba Memo Raider ought to have been the top seventies watch but was out gunned by snowman's outrageously seventies MOD complete with asymmetrical case, chunky indices and brown fumee dial. Tetlee's grey dilled Airking 5700 wasn't the only Rolex to catch my eye as 100thmonkey's exceedingly rare purple GMT Master II, thought to be a one of a kind factory concept that was never put into production. One of the prettiest watches was bowithabubblegun's lovely Tissot Navigator. Last but not least, Carton-Browne'sCroton which he had recently had overhauled.

    And there you have it.

Just before you go I thought I would reward your patience with a new type of graphic. Our very first swingometer. You may vaguely remember that I am recording which complications the Friday watches have. As the changes are slight the monthly doughnuts generally look very similar so I thought I would see how the proportion of each complication varied when comparing January to March. It has come out quite well. I am not sure how I would measure this over the whole year but it might be something I will think about at some point.

Enough of that lot, I'd better jump on to April....

Great showing from CWC, is it only me or are CWC going from strength to strength in the Friday rankings?

Always nice bonus to get a mention, really happy you liked my Rolex 5700 and well done on knowing the ref. A special watch for me, and not from a brand standpoint.

Thank you for your effort as always, always look forward to these threads and you put do much effort into them, TZUK MVP.

Fascinating. Very surprised given that there are dozens of owners on here that not a single Steinhart.

The names in the table and missing are often surprising to my mind.

I get the impression that Steinhart had its rise to stardom and is no longer the exciting 'new' brand so it fades from appearances.

The same thing happened to Temption, once, from what I remember.

P.S. Although I still like this...
