    PRS-38 Black Shadow

Browsing Chrono24 looking for something to tide me over until my new White Dial arrives and a prs-38 Black Shadow appeared in my personal feed. What a great, fun watch, and I love the speedometer inspired dial. My grand father regaled hairy stories of owning one as a young man and racing express trains with it. Happy days, and a smashing watch.

I have one.... it's a very clever design.

I printed 3 photos and mounted in the hall cloakroom.

I never knew it even existed. The numbers on the left work, 7,8,9,10,11. But on the right they don't the 10 is 5, the 20 is 10... it's doing my head in. How do you tell the time when you are drunk?

I do like the black case with the polished bezel and the yellow accents. Unusual but good.

That is the essence of an analogue clock - the brain doesn't actually 'read' the numbers.

I guess that is why the single-hand watches are NOT intuitive, also.

Read the numbers at your peril.

How do you tell the time when there aren't numbers?

It surprises me that these are still in stock. The day/date stopped me buying one, but otherwise I thought it was excellent.

    I thought they were sold-out?

I need to have a play around with mine and find the ideal strap - the only black webbing strap I have, has rings that prevent total comfort on my wrist.

Thanks- I have free reign over wall hangings, and tend to go for more technical items than ‘arty’

I liked the ability to (easily)- depict the motorcycle inspiration, the instruments derivation, and the culmination - in one frame

Eh? You just knock the zero off all the way round.
