It would be an interesting test of the brand, I think.
The Astral Diver is not a universally known or appreciated model, unlike many of the models that Eddie produces.
My guess is that it would sell steadily, but slowly.
Did you know there was also a white Astral Diver?
Something like that would be quite individual, not to say attractive and of course with the added bonus of being inspired by a vintage Smiths model rather than a different brand.
If he went for this, I would think Eddie would offer black dial and white dial versions anyway.

I've seen a white one on eBay:

That's not an Astral as it doesn't have the 'astral case' (which was also generic but in a different way). Later on Smiths were buying all sorts of complete generic watches and branding them as Smiths.
The early Astrals had Smiths (Made in England) movements and are the most desirable.
THIN is the new BLACK
I have the Smiths Everest PRS-25 v3 and a few things would make it ideal (to me):
- 38 mm case
- larger crown
- crystal without milky ring
- non-riveted bracelet and a non-friction clasp (fixed on the latest version)
If I was to be really nitpicky it would be the rotor noise from the miyota, but it's rare that I'm bothered by it.
I would buy one of these in a heartbeat
