Thread: Best place online to buy a (not expensive) Dinner suit?

Red face Best place online to buy a (not expensive) Dinner suit?

Guys, unfortunately I need a Tuxedo to attend a wedding reception. :(

Any recommendations as to where to buy? Wool/wool blend. Needs to be good quality but not expensive. :) Is Moss Bros still the 'go to'?

    Many thanks

Many of the traditional hire places sell ex-hire suits and they can often be like new.

M and S are usually fairly good at that end of the spectrum. I have one from Suit Supply that I think was good value, around £400 from memory.

I have just dug my M&S one out for use this weekend
To be fair I have only worn it once before but it’s good quality for not a lot of cash. It will do.

M&S or if you can't handle your drink and will ruin it George at Asda.

Why online? A good quality suit can look crap if it's a bad fit. Likewise a cheap suit can look decent if it's a good fit, so like most other have said pop down to M&S and try some on.

Slaters is always my first stop for suits as I don’t wear expensive ones. The service is always excellent.

M&S or even cheaper, an M&S outlet if you have one near.

It has been a while since I've worn a tux however I've always hired rather than bought. If it's a one-off occasion I'd find a decent hire shop, that way you're pretty much guaranteed a good fit. Unless, of course, you're unable to get to one!

For decent cut and quality - M&S.

Lots more expensive options are out there.

Might get lucky in one of the larger TKMaxx stores?

Dobell have two piece tux’s for around £160. Spend the money you save on a decent pair of shoes. Good shoes can make a cheap suit look great. Cheap shoes can make a great suit look cheap.

Would a 'Dinner jacket' always have satin lapels? If so, then that's what I meant. :)

Strangely enough - almost everywhere is sold out of all sizes of formal wear. Must be the wedding season causing the shortage. :(

My current DJ is from M&S as was my previous one, which lasted about 12 years. The current one is a bit more slim fit than I'd like, but otherwise the fit is good. I agree that fit and accessories are as important as the quality of the suit.

Another vote for M&S. If you wanted to push the boat a little further I would spend more on the shirt and tie, but their suits are fine.

Quite. I always think of a Tuxedo being white and worn over the pond

I was about to post similar but I always have the image of lairy pastel yellow or blue effort with a ruffled shirt whenever the word tuxedo is used.

So it’s a black tie dress code, then

More seriously if you’re only going to wear it once in a blue moon, you are indeed better off with hiring one that will fit your girth at the time.
