    Recommendations for tech recycling

Can anyone recommend me somewhere that will recycle old family tech such as phones tablets that are broken
Preferably somewhere that guarantees security because I’m not sure that all the data has been wiped but as I can’t get them to work I can’t check
    Thanks in advance

Can Currys/PC World help at all in terms of recovering data as well as recycling?

I had an old laptop that I took to Curry’s and they recycled free of charge - I wiped the HDD myself though.

No direct personal experience but I’ve never heard anyone with a positive opinion of Currys technical support.

When you say you wiped the hard drive, did you use specialist software? I’ve heard it said the only 100% reliable means of data destruction is to physically destroy the drive. I have seen software that overwrites the drive contents multiple times but no idea how effective that is.

Looks like it’s on a like for like basis.

Oh, that’s interesting to hear. I wasn’t clear, I actually meant I reformatted the HDD so presumed it was wiped.

I’m not an expert (!) but understood that wasn’t sufficient. This appears to confirm my understanding:
