I think you might find that competitive, especially as it is going to have to be a hiab
I have ordered a large amount of paving slabs from a specialist supplier in Oxford.
Approx 11 tonnes, supplied on pallets - the stone merchant has quoted £450 plus VAT (£540) from Oxford to Standish (M6 jn27)
They use a 3rd party haulier.
I wasn't expecting the haulage to be so much, but I have no basis to compare against.
Can anyone recommend a haulier who may offer a better price, maybe as a return journey from the South to Standish ?
Any useful suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

Agreed, that’s actually a very good price considering the distance. That’s well more than half a day’s work and almost three quarters of a load so they won’t get much more on the lorry and will be relying on fitting that in with something coming back the way.
You’re looking at between £800 - £1000 per day for a full day hire of a Hiab depending on where you are.
That’s not a bad price. It’s about 340 miles so it’s going to be about £200 for fuel and £150 for the driver so they’re only charging you £100 for wagon for the day. With 11 ton load weight they might have to bring some on a drag trailer, they will price that in as well. Have they asked you about access? That gets fun at times.

That’s a very good price, Sending 11 standard pallets without a hiab would cost more.
we pay about £200 for a 1T pallet of wood into London, so that price is very cheap for 11 pallets
Thank you to all the folks who took the time to respond.
It's a no-brainer to use the suppliers haulier, which will avoid issues in the event of significant breakages.
