    RIP Dennis Waterman

Shocker - only 74. Some classic TV with the Sweeney and Minder.

Oddly enough I watched an episode of Minder with Waterman a few days ago for the next time in decades and was surprised to find it still enjoyable.

    I loved The Sweeney though.

My wife and I saw him and, then, other-half Rula Lenska in Same Time Next Year at the Old Vic for one of our first dates.

That's sad to hear. Hope Arthur puts on a good send off at the Winchester.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

    That is sad
I grew up in the area they filmed Minder in (around Olympia exhibition hall), lots of it was filmed on the same street and Terry’s flat was around the corner.
A few years ago (10 maybe) I sat next to him on a flight once along with Robert Powell, both were total gents and we had a good laugh, there were no airs or graces with either of them.
I have been watching the old re runs of Minder every now and again, very funny and highly enjoyable.
    RIP Tel.

My earliest memory of D.W. was back in the 60's at Saturday Morning Pictures in a film called Go Kart Go.

I actually watched it recently on Talking Pictures, great memories.

I recall being allowed to stay up late on a Monday evening to watch the Sweeney - classic Brit TV (ITV at 21:00-22:00)

He provided a good deal of pleasure for many folk over many years - that's not a bad way to be remembered.

So very sad about this, loved Minder but The Sweeney was incredible television that is as enjoyable today as it was BITD.

I'm so old that I remember him as William Brown in the Richmal Crompton TV series in 1962.

I felt very sad when I saw notice of his death yesterday.

    RIP,
Weird to think that if my teenage love life had been more monogamous then Dennis could have been my father in law.
He was a bit scary when it came to his daughter though 🤣

I like to think Dennis is in negotiations with St Pete to write the theme tune, sing the theme tune…

Sad news indeed, great actor with a long career. He played a central part in the excellent "The Life and Loves of a She Devil" way back in 1986.

I had an album of his in the late 70s - surprisingly good too. Always came across as a nice guy in any role he played.
