Not exactly but took citalopram for about a year or so, nausea and headaches for a couple of weeks but the benefits far outweighed the drawbacks.

    Hi OP,

I was prescribed it some years back 50mg, made me feel very nauseous and I suffered headaches and brain fog for the first couple of weeks or so, after that it settled in and was hugely beneficial. If I missed taking it for two or three days the same sickness feelings started again but in a lesser extent until I started back on the meds.

I was taking them for approx a couple of years, it really helped during that period.

Happy to answer questions or chat via PM if you want?

    All the best.

I know three people that take it. Same as above, some strange effects to start, but they settle and has helped them all. You may need to go back and forth to get the exact dosage right.

40mg of citalopram since Feb 21.. Can’t say I’ve notice any brain fog, headaches etc. I dare say it changed my life completely. Give it a go but don’t stop start. Once you start see if through otherwise if you do see any bad side effects that are passing you may stop when they will probably disappear very quickly…
Now Quetiapine that’s a whole different kettle of fish…ask me how I know..

I was on 50mg with no issues but when the GP raised my prescription to 100mg I suffered constant debilitating headaches, needless to say I switched to Venlafaxine which seems to suit me far better up to 225mg per day.

    Best of luck OP.

Our eldest daughter was put on it a few years ago to combat severe anxiety. It was horrible for us and her, she went from being meek and mild to being constantly irritable, aggressive, hostile and violent. It was like living with a totally different person and she had no control over it and sometimes didn’t even notice what she was doing. It really scared her. The specialist was adamant that sertraline couldn’t be the cause but she came off it after a few months and learnt to deal with her issues another way rather than try further medication.
People react differently to medications but, from our experience, I would make sure you have people around you who you trust that can let you know if you’re behaving differently and should be concerned.

Suffered from stress and depression from work about 5 or 6 years ago. Was prescribed this. Started off at 50 mg and was told to increase to 100 mg after 2 weeks. Experiences vary but my GP seemed uninterested. And it strikes me at times that this is used to provide a proverbial 'band aid' rather than address the underlying issue..only stuck with it for a week. Felt fuzzy in the head and had a pronounced metallic taste constantly in my mouth. I am sure these symptoms dissipate but for me it was a worry. It can have an impact on your sex life too....for me, being shallow, this was a worry!!
Anyway, ended up exercising more and getting more fresh air...common sense stuff for me. And it worked.

I suffer from anxiety. I was taking Citalopram for years, until last November it just stopped working, anxiety back. Apparently that can happen.

I moved to Sertraline. Initially 50mg, but after a couple of weeks, it was clearly not enough, so up to 100mg. I'm now back to equilibrium.

On the upside, it's a complete mitigation of my anxiety symptoms (which are a non-specific anxious feeling all the time, no apparent cause). Less brain fog than Citalopram, but I am tired alot, and very get very thirsty!

Coming on was hellish. It took over a month all told to feel normal again. I suffered from insomnia (took Zopiclone to get some sleep), and the anxiety does get quite a bit worse. Need to keep remembering that it is temporary!

If you are suffering depression or anxiety, it is worth taking for sure, but be prepared for a rough few weeks.

Talking helps- keep us posted, and feel free to reach out to me.

Thank You guys . Been on 50mg for about 10 days now. My head hits the pillow at 10 and I will sleep solid for about 3-4 hours then I’m wide awake again . Not much appetite either. I’m going to hang in there though.Get pins and needles in arms both day and night when the anxiety kicks in too.

I’m similar with the sleep - once I wake up, that is it & just lie there in peace until time to get up. Find guided meditation with headphones really good to chill during that time rather than worry about a lack of sleep.

I’ve been on citalopram for a good few years for depression / anxiety. Upped to 40mg through the first lockdown, down back to 20mg now.

Tried stopping them twice this year but the anxiety returns and I become a right grumpy sod picking holes in everything.

Glad things seem to be getting a little better for you on the meds.

40mg citalopram for me for about 6m now. No side effects except for needing more sleep or unless I miss a day. I find alcohol consumption nullifies the help.
