Movement mechanism: precisely described, explained and interactive!

Not sure whether it’s a known article or not but just found this one this morning and thought that was very helpful to understand what is actually going on in a mechanical watch, and why!
You can interact with the parts, move it around, …
    I certainly enjoyed the read:

That's a very nice, clear explanation of the core elements of a movement and the diagrams/animations are very well done. Nice find.

I haven't read all of this yet, but so far this is the best breakdown and explanation of a mechanical watch movement I've ever read.

Wow! Nice share OP. This is the best explanation I have ever seen. Better even than the Walt Odets series imo.

    This.

I started reading and thought it would be a little bit naff. Was hooked in minutes! Have been reading for about 30 now, and I don’t think I can stop. The animations are wonderful.

    Thanks for sharing!

Beat me to it! One to come back to with a little more time and a coffee at the weekend. Brilliant explanation and demonstration of the different components.

Love the real model of the train and the authoritave, if a bit foreign, oration. Equally, the link in the OP is fascinating, and really helps to explain how our bits work.

Yes, thanks for posting OP, brilliant animations.

The creator's other animations are also worth looking at - no idea what software is used but must take him ages!

    Excellent!

Everyone with an interest in watches should watch this and get a better understanding of how they work.

That is brilliant, this is one of the best sites I've seen on the internet and is the first I think which I believe would beat teaching in person. Some of the other topics on the blog are fascinating too.

    Thanks for posting.
