Which provider would you send a 13k watch with within UK?

    Hi all,

Ive searched TZ-UK but I cant find a good post on this in recent times, so apologies Im sure this is already covered.

I am looking for advice to ship a 13k watch within the UK ( NI to the mainland ).

I will insure with SECURSUS but cant seem to find a suitable company.

RMSD will only cover to 2.5k and DHL up to 4K.

Who would you use to send to a fellow TZ UK Member?

    Any advice would be appreciated

    Thank you in advance.

Use RMSD with no insurance and insure with secursus. Have used RMSD many times and never failed. Have used secursus but never had to claim, so difficult to form an opinion.

Does it matter what RM or DHL will cover if its insured elsewhere?

My understanding of this was the maximum they would ship was 2.5k and 4 respectively. However maybe they only mean to insure to this value. I will review the T&Cs.

As far as I know, in the UK, the only/best method is what Rob said above.

RMSD with the lowest level of insurance (500) and then you use Secursus to insure it. They charge 1% of the insured value.

Royal Mail will only offer insurance up to the value of 2500. If you send something more valuable and try to claim for more, then theyll deny your claim.

Hence you tell them the item youre sending has no value and you insure it with Secursus.

Correct. Used RMSD plus Secursus many times. Very easy to use, make sure you take a ton of images of the packing process. Print several RMSD labels and stick them also in the inner packaging, in case the outer one gets damaged.

Ive sent two high end watches RM with Secursus with no issues so they are who I would use.

I guess though any insurance is only as good as when a claim needs to be made.

I think for 13K within the UK I would jump on a plane and meet up, a day out and 100% safe.

I just had this reply from Secursas about shipping to eBay authentication service:

"Unfortunately, as youre shipping this watch to the eBay authentication service, we wont be able to cover it.
    *
We only cover parcels shipped from the seller to the buyer."

One to bear in mind folks.

This would actually be my preference, I would be 100% at ease this way. Id rather hand the watch over in person if possible.

Personally wouldnt send a watch by Royal Mail for that value. Even if insured elsewhere. Too many issues and complications if it goes wrong! May be a small chance but why risk?

I have just checked the DHL website and they only cover to a max of 1000, I feel sure they used to cover up to 4K so I guess they have changed their offering. Yet if you
go to DHL Express they state 4k cover, I will have to ring them.

Deliver it in person for the massive profit youre gouging?

I used a same day delivery courier service last time I did that. Man in a van collected it and drove it to the destination. Cost me about 100 but it was worth it.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.

I would love a job like this delivering nice watches in the UK with all expenses covered and a small profit as well but I imagine on a one off basis it would work out way to expensive.

Given the size of the profit hes making Id take a couple of days off work, hand deliver the watch and have an overnighter somewhere.

I just sent my Sinn U1 from the Channel Islands to the mainland UK to the Sinn UK service centre with DHL, barring a 8 day wait where I later found out customs sent paperwork to the Sinn UK service centre to fill out and return, it all went pretty well.

Me being me though, I put a AirTag in with the watch. Partly because as my daughter insists, I'm the child in the relationship and partly just because I'm paranoid, doesnt mean they're not out to get me.

Better than DHL, they charged me 1.5% of the quoted value for my Sinn.

DHL covered my Sinn U1t at the full quoted value. It's arrived at the Sinn UK service centre today, so either way that's a relief. 😁

Amen to that, Securus won't insure if sending to a business.

I just sent one with DHL today and they covered the full 3k, hope I don't have to claim, it is on a pre 12 delivery but was 62 odd quid, not cheap for a UK delivery.

Think mine worked out around 57 if I remember correctly? Only real downsides was the custom clearance time.

Good to know about Securus won't insure if sending to a business, thank you!
