    Watch Weights

No not how many years to get a Daytona!

We talk of the size of watches alot. Dial size, bracelet taper, thickness, lug width so I thought Id start a reference guide for watch weight! I accept links count but for these 3 starters assume a 11 link on Rolex, ideally post photos rather than just words if you can.

So here goes this will either die on its arse or become a quirky point of reference for years to come so lets weigh them in!!!

    16610 @ 132g

    16660 @ 146g

    116660 @ 206g

Lockdown boredom prompted a similar thread.
Weight is just as important as dimensions when it comes to wearing but is very rarely discussed

^ That said, your header (Watch Weights) is much easier to find than the previous thread (How Heavy).

Good idea, I thought I've seen something along the lines of this thread previously. Maybe not here...

Random question, out of the two below which do you prefer more the Sub or the GMT and why? Weight, feel, function?

I'd also note that there's quite a weight difference between Oyster & Jubilee, would be good to get this comparison.

    .
    Apple and Oranges.

The No Date is the ultimate grab and go, its clean and less is more. The GMT is supercool and sporty and great.

Both fit like gloves and feel fantastic on like all steel sports.

As for function As with any watch be it GMT or Chrono the function is a nice to have not a nice to use. I can usually add or subtract upto 12 from a figure to work out what time it is at home and with the exception of egg timing the chrono buttons rarely get used.

This is NOT SBGA231, it is SBGA229.

SBGA231 is titanium, weight is 137 grams (head+bracelet with all links included)

SBGA229 is SS, weight is 201.0 g (head+bracelet with all links included)

    Ah!
I had both - seemed to only have this one in photo and was sure it was the Ti.

Well there you go. SBGA229, in Steel!

Should have zoomed in - the GS on the dial is gold with the Ti, and Silver on the Steel. Oops!

IWC MK XVII (41mm) on a leather lined IWC Nato and IWC Steel buckle weighs in at an impressively light 86g.
