Anything hub / dongle / charger related i always go Anker. I always find their products are extremely well designed, safe and good value, never had an issue with Anker items.
Rather late in the day, I've realised that only some of the USB ports on my desktop are USB3.
I think that I need a USB3 hub so I can connect more drives with the benefit of USB3 (without having to keep climbing behind the PC to access the ports). Is that how it works?!
If I am using powered drives, do I need a powered hub? (I must do for a portable drive, I assume??).
And finally, recommendations on decent brands would be much appreciated.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks. Agree about Anker - have several of their chargers and cables.
I guess I'm just being a tight wad not wanting to pay £60:

This would do the job for £24 but never heard of the brand:

Interestingly (!),
https://www.anker.com/it/products/va...b/68ANHUB-S7KA (No idea why Italian site came up when I googled).
“Some USB 3.0 devices (such as Apple SuperDrive and some WD hard drives) require direct connection to host ports.”

I can't comment on the anker product/s but I do have a RSHTECH hub and had no issues with it - I use it for a 1TB SSD hard drive with FLAC music files and also for a CD/DVD drive.

I bought this one last year - seems to work well, and handy that you can switch in and out connected drives.
I stuck it to the side of my PC CPU which sits atop my desk - so sits very neatly.
