New Top Gun (film not watch) trailer released

Not much longer to wait now...

...at this rate though we'll know the whole plot before the opening titles have even started rolling, not that anyone will care. You don't go to this kind of movie for the intellectual quality of the story line.

The one thing that does bother me slightly though is that there's no hint yet, that I have seen anyway, as to the sound track.

Hopefully not put back again. Looks like I’ll have to plan a trip to the nearest IMAX to watch it.

New Top Gun (film not watch) trailer released

Fond memories of the original. I worked at Butlins and was rota’d to sit in the theatre to stop folk smoking. Sat through Top Gun at least 30 times

I think I'm done watching trailers for it, I'll wait for the film itself now. IMAX Is a no-brainer.

I'm not really a fan of action films but I enjoyed the original and I am looking forward to this - the flight sequences look as they will be fantastic.

Definitely going to IMAX this one as they used IMAX cameras for it. The in flight stuff should be really good.

I've recently discovered a YouTube channel run by a guy called Ward Carroll. He's a retired USN Commander, a Tomcat RIO & now teaches at the Naval Academy. He was involved in the making of the original film & has made a few videos discussing it.
Additionally his channel is very informative about carrier aviation & related topics, I commend it to the House...

Just realised I was 16 when the last one came out....leaves room with large whisky and service revolver.

Don’t know if it’s the same guy but I listened to one last year where they discussed the flat spin and subsequent death, it transpired that it was extremely close to the truth as it had happened a few years earlier. I’m Still amazed that Iran manages to keep there Tomcats still operational with upgrading so long after they were stopped buying spares for them.

I think it was the same guy, I recognise that episode. I have found the channel to be really informative about carrier aviation which I'm really interested in. I had 2 uncles in the Fleet Air Arm which must have left a mark (although I ended up in the RGJ).

Ward Carroll, F14 pilot. Don't know if he made Top Gun but the idea of carrier landings/take off seems terrifying to me and he will have done 1000s

RGJ is OK, must admit I was AAC there were certain benefits when you rocked up in a Gazelle, closest I got to the infantry was 28 days courtesy of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers guard room in Lemgo .

He was a RIO on F14s. He says in one episode that he has 825 landings - hell of a way to make a living!

When I did my Combat Infantryman Course at Catterick, my section commander was a Royal Welsh Fusilier, Andrew Taylor. He turned up in a show you can watch on YouTube called "Battle Stripes" about the Platoon Sergeant's Battle Course in Brecon. He must have gone straight there from Catterick. Top guy, the course looked brutal.

Really looking forward to seeing this.
Had a real big interest in naval aviation and US carrier ops in younger life.
    Hence avatar and tattoo.

Cruise wore an PD in the original.

    But if you freezeframe the
“I’ll put on the brakes and he’ll fly right by” moment, you see this…

Wonder if that was actual landings? They have to requalify every so often. Starting on runways and working back up to carriers to get your bearings again. 825 doesn't seem that many(!!) assuming you fly every day or second day.

Carrier landings, shore deployment landings would be additional I'd say.

Can anyone confirm which way it went in the end? It's important.
