Do You Have Your Watch Serial Numbers Noted?

It just occurred to me that I don’t. If they were ever stolen and recovered I’d have no way to tell if I was looking at my own watches. I better sort that out

I take a similar set of photos of every watch that comes through the front door. If the serial number or LE number is visible I get a nice clear shot of it and likewise if that appears on any cards or documents do the same. So yes, I have a record of the details.

I have serial numbers of everything I own that has one and that includes watches.

We were broken into about a decade ago and things like laptops, game consoles and a few other electronic devices were taken. When the loss adjuster arrived a few days later he was gobsmacked with information I was able to pass to him.

This included precise make, model and serial numbers for everything along with purchase date and price, supported with a copy of the purchase receipt. For those electronic devices I was able to supply precise specifications and MAC addresses for any network adapters and the unique 48 bit address for all Bluetooth adapters. I still hold all this data for equipment I have today.

    I don’t, although I know I should.

Keeping the watches and paperwork very separate does give me some level of comfort.

As the home insurance is due soon I decided to start a spreadsheet myself last week to inventory the whole house along with serials etc.

The replacement value is WAY more than I anticipated. Up to £60k so far just on jewellery/watches/electricals/computers/electronics equipment, so still furnishings/art/clothing/outdoor/power tools to go - and the wife has a quite a few designer dresses....

    I'm afraid I do.

    And I have comprehensive photos.

And, for those manufacturers who offer the service (in my case GO, MG, and Dornblüth), I register my ownership there as well.

My wife's bum though is a blank canvas. Must get round to that.
