    RIP Taylor Hawkins

A great drummer and seemed so full of life whenever I saw him.

    Only 50, RIP.

    Cheers,

    Adam.

This is very sad, genuinely gutted to hear this.

Excellent drummer and like Dave he came across as a really nice bloke who loved his music.
He was especially knowledgeable on British music and I loved hearing him talk about that subject.

    RIP

I’m genuinely upset at this news. My son and I are drummers, big FF fans and Taylor was one of our musical heroes.

At 50 he was younger than me. A sad loss to music.

    RIP

So shocked to hear this, I was just watching the Foo Fighters on YouTube last night too. A true talent on the drums.

Unbelievable and very sad. He was a fantastic drummer and a big part of the bands mojo and complimented Grohl perfectly the way they would suddenly swap places in the band. RIP drummer Hawkins

So sad, a bloke so obviously full of life and doing Exactly what he was meant to do.
I am reading Dave Grohl's book at the moment, it is clear that he and TH were more like brothers. So sad.

Very sad, and a dreadfully young age too. Always liked his contributions on the various rockumentaries I watch. RIP man.

That's insane. An amazing drummer. He battled with heroin addiction so that may have played a part. RIP.

    Very sad news.
Too young to go and a hard act to follow for a future FF's drummer.

So sad, great drummer. He sang Rock n Roll when Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones jammed with the Foo’s years ago. Very talented player saw them many times. Hopefully it was not drug related as stated? RIP Taylor

I saw the Foos at Wembely in 2008 and the encore of Dave drumming, Taylor on vocals and Jimmy Paige and John Paul Jones on guitar to Led Zep songs was epic!

Very sad news. Personally was never a huge fan of the band but did enjoy what I’ve seen on various programmes and concert footage that I’ve seen.

Another tragic loss in the world of rock and roll. Be one hell of a rhythm section up there. Taylor Hawkins on drums and Phil Lynott on bass. Malcolm Young on guitar.

Hope it's not the usual causes. Found dead in a hotel room is a cliche and no epitaph for such a vibrant personality. Jason Bonham would be my choice to fill the chair in the short term.

So so sad. Seemed a great guy and co-wrote some incredible songs. My 9 year old is learning drums and loves the FFs and watching Taylor playing on YouTube. RIP.

Shocking. Poor chap. He always seemed to enjoy what he did. RIP.
Foo Fighters is one band I have always wanted to see and as a retirement present to myself, I got tickets to see them at Old Trafford in June. I guess that tour is cancelled now

Postponed ftm but prob cancelled. So much money out there that no one likes to cancel. I once read how acts have a list for insurance purposes of who they will cancel a tour for. So a wife or child yes, but an ex wife or a cousin prob not.

This is not correct - the decision will be down to the promoter/artist(s).

Insurance provisions are in place to cover whatever decision is made.

Massive Foos fan and stunned at the news. He almost died of a heroin overdose back in 2001 so you wonder how much it still impacted on his life.
Him and Grohl were such close friends that I wonder whether he could continue with someone else behind a kit…… bit similar to Led Zep and Bonzo. Obviously first thoughts go to his wife and kids but for Cobain and then Hawkins to pass prematurely must be heart wrenching for Grohl

Not a great fan myself but my 12 year old daughter was and was very upset yesterday.
She was very much a fan of Grohl and Hawkins.
He will be missed as he was a great musician. Hopefully his passing wasn’t drug related but suspect it was……what a waste of both talent and a life!

Will be back to business in a few weeks. A poss temporary drummer. Grohl has mates who have been down this road. Queen, Brian Johnson, Metallica all have continued. Johnson was a replacement for the late Bon Scott and was replaced himself. Recently the Stones, Eagles, ZZ Top continue to tour.

I am a huge FF fan, and it really is terrible news.

I think it may be the end of FF, I cant see them back on stage in a few weeks with a new drummer.

I'm not so sure, I think Grohl has lost quite a few near to him, Cornell, Cobain, Chester Bennington,Hoon, Welland etc. AC/DC and Metallica were at different stages in their careers. Rush called it a day as did Zeppelin, Linkin Park and Soundgarden, I think this might be the end for the Foo fighters. Grohl will do other stuff but Taylor was much more than just a drummer to him. Robert Plant has never got over losing Bonzo and refused to do any Zeppelin stuff for years. I suppose the only person that will really know will be Grohl. Such a shame but drugs are still very much part of the music scene in certain quarters.

I agree with this completely,Taylor and Dave were like brothers I can’t see them replacing him

    Remainder of the tour cancelled.

So sad, Dave Grohl in a recent interview was talking about Kurt Cobain and how much that cut him deep when he died, losing Taylor will hit him hard and will be very difficult to hit the stage with someone else drumming.

I'll add in I like some of Taylors solo stuff too, very talented genuine nice guy who looks to have gone down the old bad road - RIP..

Would have loved to have seen Chevy Metal live. Always looked like a fun gig.

    Sad loss to music.

I watched most of the 6 hour tribute concert on Saturday. Was a good send off to a great drummer, he always looked so happy and full of life, shame he could not kick his drug abuse :-(

Was a good concert, made me feel very old though! some of the old school guys looked ancient! Good showing with members of Rush, Metallica, Queens of the stone age, Queen, ACDC etc all came on a played a few songs.

His brother looked to have the time of his life, Dave Grohl's daughter Violet has a decent voice.
