Sweet!!! The repeated groove in that album is a thing to behold and worth the wait!

I brought the lift to scaffolding recently too…. Very different but a beautiful album

You're right! I love that album ("Ascenseur"), probably up there with "Kind of Blue" in terms of my favourite Miles album. The music is so redolent of the period and atmosphere, I can almost smell, the Gitanes, when I listen to it.

A rock / metal playlist, mostly Metallica, Foo's, 3 Doors down etc, most recent additon is the Sophie LLoyd album, impressive guitaring and some decent songs.

Can you hear the moment Miles leaves a bit of lip skin on ascenseur? Louis Malle told of the anecdote in an interview but I never spotted it.

Hmmm nope, can't say I have. I'm sure I would have noticed "Argh! Ya F#$$%€& bas@#$%@€" in the middle of one of the passages ! Probably apocryphal. Having said that I'll listen a bit more intently next time.

You generated an earworm for the rest of the day…. Doo do do do do da da da doo doo

L’ascenseur has such a great album cover too…. A kind of blue is beautiful but overplayed!

Difficult to say on favourites, but Porgy and Bess has to be up there

His album with Coltrane is not bad either (I was thinking of the Olympia one)

After Galadriel’s Chasing the Dragonfly it’s now time for a Scotch and Billie Holiday.

Right now, Paul Desmond's 'Easy Living'.

Usually I'm not listening to anything when I scroll past this thread. Currently chilling after a quick, hot run.

After stumbling across a couple of tracks suggested on Deezer, I've been listening to quite a few songs by Zucchero

Different, but worth checking out. It's on the tube.

Can't go wrong with Desmond's sweet, mellifluous alto.

    Cheese alert
