Think about it. If you were considering spending thousands of dollars on an Omega Speedmaster, would you now be worried about people thinking you were wearing a plastic Swatch?

Is it wrong to say that I really like a few of those?
Same here, I do like the "Mission to the Moon" model....definitely giving off both Omega & Bulova vibes.
I'll be hoping to get hold of a saturn. I like them, bit of fun aren't they.
I’m drawn to the Saturn, too. I like the funky rings on the sub dial.
Even my wife, who has zero interest in watches, said that she wouldn’t mind the Venus or Tiffany-blue-Uranus.
I'm not sure these will age well. The sundials don't appear particularly legible including as compared with the original...
The madness has started…
Just search moon swatch on eBay
My 2 cents;
- From a brand perspective, I'd be a tad annoyed if I was a Speedmaster owner currently.
- From a generic customer perspective (aka me), I can theoretically get a pretty cool Omega branded Speedmaster in a range of fun colours for £200? Yes please.
- From a cynical perspective, these will probably be tough to get in the foreseeable future and I won't pay a penny over RRP.
- From a Swatch perspective, annoying a few die hard fans is probably worth it to introduce a whole new customer demographic to their product line.
It doesn't have to age well though. It's two hundred quid.
I’m going to Edinburgh on Monday!
I am going to buy one if I can. Love them. Perfect for my son to wear to school and me to steal from him at weekends.

I like them! Very likely it has the potential to become one more inflated watch, but if availability is there why not

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
I'm another Speedy owner whose biggest concern is which colour. Mind you, I reckon these will be flooding ebay in a month so I think I'll wait until then, let ebay decide which colour I get and save myself half the price. I especially like the flic flac battery compartment in planet. Cunning.
I wouldn't be so sure. The Omega branding will still hold a lot of weight and some of these designs are quite unique as Speedmaster variants. The fact there's a whole line of them will make them very collectable too.
Just how valuable / collectable they will be will depend on how many are made and whether this is a one off for a limited time or Omega/ Swatch do something similar in the future (how about a line of Seamasters next?).
Bargain - worth getting the full set at those prices
Wonder if there will be a DNN version next year or an Ed White version

It doesn’t bother me particularly but I’ve absolutely no idea why you’d devalue the brand in this way. Seems counter to absolutely everything that’s worked in the luxury watch market in recent years. Headscratcher.
Would have seriously considered, but London and Edinburgh only in the UK by the looks.
Edinburgh store is only about a 35 minute walk from my house.
Not worth the effort
I wonder how long before one hits Sales Corner.
scooter
L love the look of the speedie but I’m strictly a quartz man so these are perfect for me -hopefully I’ll be able to pick up a moon swatch at some point
Sent the link to my son who owns an Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch and a Seamaster Aqua Terra worldtimer.
He’s given me a shopping list!
I love the look of a few of them. Think it's cool for the industry to do something a bit different.
Almost convinced myself to pay overs for one on ebay until I remembered I cant bring myself to so that.
Will be watching SC with great interest.

I love my speedie mk2…
These will be ‘fun’ items but swatches are bloody loud with their ticking …
Already listed on eBay.. at triple the RRP like the NASA series. Some at £2k….…madness !!

I see myself getting the Mercury and Uranus at some point when it won't be a struggle to obtain these. Kudos to Omega for not making it a limited edition release. Finally something that I hope we'd be able to pick up at RRP.
It doesn't devalue the brand. It makes it relevant and cool (or whatever todays word is)to a whole new generation of customers. Customers who, until now, maybe didn't even know the moon watch existed.
Or look at it this way...is an Audi etron any less desirable due to the A1? Most Audi drivers I've met, when asked about what car they'd reslly like pick a much more expensive Audi.
It's not like someone would be considering a moon watch and then think ..nah I'll save my money and get one of these. It's two totally different markets. Also, important point...it's a swatch you buy from a swatch shop. It's a colab with omega yes bit it's still a swatch.
The colour and, dare I say it, brashness means they aren't comparable but they are complimentary. Think of them as a beater for people who don't like g shocks.
I've got a number of omegas including a speedie and I can't wait to get one.
I've got a Speedy and I like Swatches, but I'm surprised at the immediate popularity of these. Would have thought most people into classic, traditional upmarket watches wouldn't be overly interested in plastic fun watches, and vice-versa.
I think they're overpriced anyway.
If this:
A) Encourages 'da kidz' to wear watches
B) Sparks an interest in 'proper' watches
... then it can only be a good thing, in my book.
For Omega and Swatch it's an absolute masterstroke, lifting brand awareness and adding an element of fun, hat's off to the Swatch Group.
