I think Swatch will make enough for these to satisfy the real demand as pumping these out must be fairly quick. Though I don’t see this model running for more than a year in production, probably 6 to 9 months tops.
I think the most popular ones will be in production for a long time personally, certainly a year or two.

I hope so! I like to just buy one and have it delivered. Omega And Swatch Group must be juggling several factors on how many to produce and for how long

I've seen a seam line in one of the photos of the case, making it look cast. Not unlike the little excess you trim off from Airfix.

I'm prepared to concede that it is an 'age' thing that leaves me less than nonplussed about them.

I like the Speedmaster for what it is, and it's history - but the idea of having a placcy version in a multitude of colours has no appeal.

Even traditional chronometers are a tad irellevant nowadays - without producing one for the 'younger set' who would have absolutely no use for that function.

On the upside......................... Might help to keep wristwatches in society in the future.

    On the velcro note,
I think the biggest insult is the strap is near idenical to the Omega Velcro they released last year, and is around 80% of the price of the SwOmega

Casting lines to be expected, but the lug tip is already damaged:

She also describes the hands as of good quality for the price...but the tips of the hour hand and subdial are damaged too - this is from her own macro video:

Typical Swatch quality for a cheap watch. Less damaged I think. More, poorly made IMHO.

I still think that these watches are just a bit of fun. I do like them.

Oh absolutely, I wouldn't expect much from it. I just wish she'd looked at her own footage before saying the hands are good quality for the price.

I'm still vying for a Mercury.

A little while after these become readily available the sales corner is gonna be rammed with them.

    Spot on.

It's a good looking, cheap watch. QC is out the window. I've seen misaligned hands on Swatch chronographs in the past as I owned a few back in the day. With the Omega branding, I wonder if they have at least sorted that issue out. The hands do look poorly made.

It's not a tough decision when it comes to picking one of these, or a well built Bulova Lunar Pilot.

    Online release next Friday.

The eBay market place is all manufactured by the scalpers. Artificial auctions, watchers and bidders.

which explains why the same bidder bids £9500 then a few minutes later £30000 !

If sold ebay prices are to be believed it looks like the (likely) most popular models are selling for around £1k already. That's auctions where the seller has uploaded an actual picture of the watch today not just a stock picture.

Nobody has any idea if they actually sold at the closing price - could just be shill bidding.

True but there's a few that have sold around that price and none have been relisted so it seems likely that some are real sales.

So much for a recession and inflated utility bills. If peeps are buying these for over 1k, the worlds officially gone barmy!

I often think that, but as with any hot watch most of the interested buyers are just looking for a quick profit. I’d like to think if my local Goldsmiths took delivery of 500 Rolex Daytona and phoned each person on the list saying they are in, list price, plenty for everyone and all the other stores have them too, I think 80% of that waiting list would melt away there and then.

Only on here can we regard a plastic-cased non-limited-edition quartz watch being sold at over £200 as costing "virtually nothing".

Swatch social media account posting that London stores will reopen at 11am tomorrow morning.

    Stab-proof vest a minimum requirement I imagine...

Just goes to show the power of advertising. Nobody knows us better than someone who successfully persuades us to buy something!

The launch of the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection is an incredible success that exceeded all expectations.
We would therefore like to remind you that there will be watches available in the selected Swatch Stores in the coming weeks as it is not a limited edition.

Seems cost wasn't much of a barrier?

I imagine they'll be more prepared this time. Maybe stickers/tickets for those in the queue limited to the amount of stock, then turn everyone else away.

Funny thing is when marketing threads crop up on here most claim to be impervious to the overtures of the marketing departments of the brands selling them highly priced luxury goods. They buy the watch purely on its horological merits. :-)

I find it amusing how everyone in the queue is scum and a profiteer, preventing the honest of this parish getting the Moonswatch.

Could it be, just possibly, that one or two in the queue were people who actually wanted one for themselves?

I mean, there must be people who actually do or the profiteers wouldn't have a market!

I think the ones who simply want a watch for themselves - would mostly avoid all that hassle in those crowds (unless they are so niaive as to not predict it).

    a. I have the chance to own one of those watches - I'll go and queue/get threatened to do that

    b. I have the chance to score a few hundred quid (possibly more) by getting one/two on day 1

I think 'b' has the greater driving force.

Your faith in human nature is touching.

Once again, though, why was this predictable? Outside of the watch forums and YT reviewers, I've seen no mention of these watches.

With this so clearly intended as a scam, if someone fell for this, would eBay side with the buyer and force a refund?

Be difficult as seller has stated no refunds and both in the listing and description states its for a picture

Harsh lesson to learn in making sure you read through the description fully
