I think the whole thing is a stroke of genius, inspire a whole new generation into the story of the Speedmaster/Moonwatch with a completely affordable version, available in colours to suit pretty much everybody, that shares the same dimensions as the Moonwatch so they'll all know how well the watch wears. I can see a big trickle down to increased sales of the regular Moonwatch down the line, and that's without all the added interest from the likes of us watch fanatics that want one or several. It's just brilliant IMO. My wife already wants the pink one and she lost interest in watches ages ago, nice to see her genuinely excited about a new watch again.
I hope to buy either the Mars or Mercury when they're available online later on, haven't decided between those two yet.
I hope scalpers don’t ruin the pricing on these and that they are easily available from swatch. I think it’s a marketing home run for swatch and omega, brilliant. I will not be having a mission to Uranus though![]()
Having watched the Watchfinders video, the thing that stood out was that the Swatch "S" etched into the crystal (?) is clearly visible but misaligned with the dial.
This of course got me to look at my own Moonwatch. The Omega on the crystal took a bit of finding, even with a loupe, and sure enough it was almost exactly upside down :-)
Perhaps the misaligned etched crystal is another thing that makes it a good homage :-)
At the factory, Omega never align the symbol on the dial with an acrylic crystal, what they do is align the split in the tension ring so it is less noticeable. If you see an aligned symbol on a plastic Omega crystal, it was pure chance or more likely the crystal has been replaced by a non-Omega watchmaker as those guys seem to align them. I think Omega do possibly align the logos on the sapphire crystal watches that have them such as the Trilogy Railmaster and Seamaster, though I am not sure and don't have mine to hand to check.
If anyone is considering paying these inflated prices I'd like to put it on record that I have a bridge in London I can sell you.
People are already queuing and have been since this morning.
Not sure which store this is as a friend of mine sent me the image who lives in London. I had convinced him to go there Saturday morning for me but have told him not to bother now.

^^^ The Oxford St branch. I bet most go to scalpers initially.
They look great IRL, much more ceramic than plastic.
I think I'll definitely get one at that price, but may have to switch up for a Nato if poss.

can you only buy in person and do they limit them? I'd like a couple of colours but someone will chance going in and buying the stock. Brilliant concept imo
Yeah I think they're limiting to 1/2 per customer
I love these and will be buying them if I can get hold of them.
Most likely Mars (always loved that Project Alaska theme) and the beige one (is that Jupiter?)
It amazes me that anyone would pay enough over list to make spending 24 hours sitting outside a shop a viable way to earn a living.
From another forum, apparently the queues dispersed after this was put in the window of the HongKong branch.

that pic from the HK shop is exactly how this watch thing should be unless it is a genuine limited edition. Put that in every dealer window. That cheeky Uranus/tiffany Blue. Fantastic. Yes sir, it is a limited edition. We've limited you buying them all.
The smart move would be to offer a vagrant some cans of White Lightening to lie outside the Swatch store, then swap places with him at 8:59 on Saturday morning.
I really want to know what they're gonna do if they need the toilet.
How big is his family?
Ignoring the bonkers ebay listings at £10k+ I'd say a realistic flip value on Sunday when the stores are sold out and the online store isn't live yet is about £500 so that's £600 profit per pair if there's 4 of you that's clearing £2400 which isn't bad for a weekends work but not enough for me to get the wife and kids to sleep rough on the streets of London or Edinburgh on a Friday night.
If you're working solo, if you've been there 24 hours you're working for £25 an hour, which isn't bad but there's easier ways to make a living.....and I hope the online store goes live on Sunday wiping off any premium value straight away and these people are stuck with 2 watched they don't want and have to sell at list price.
In China it is quite common to pay for someone to queue up on your behalf. In the case of this watch I have seen people offering to queue and buy the watch for RMB 3100 in total.
I have videos of crazy long queues in Shanghai and now there is a rumour going around that Swatch have been told to cancel the sale due to police concerns about the spread of Covid. I think that’s only a rumour but you never know as there are very strict controls in Shanghai right now.
Thinking about this, we've already had Moser x Apple

Not limited and not going to be boutique exclusive and that’s from Omega apparently- not sure why the queues - seems a bit odd
I would imagine quite a folk would fill up a bottle of truckers tizer. ;)
As these are cheaply made, I assume you can swap about the parts if you prefer a different colour combination?
