Was very saddened to hear this, one of my favourite actors and gone at such a young age; Gorky Park is one of my favourite films.

In August 1995 I was at small hotel in Stratford-upon-Avon where one morning I held a fire door open for a rather hippy looking chap wearing a flowery shirt and flip-flops, who was pulling a trolley case and carrying several bags; he gave a big smile and said 'thank you very much'. I instantly recognised him and confirmed it later at reception, it was William Hurt.

    RIP.
