New omega speedy 57…. Star of the show.

For me the new speedy 57 is the best release that is ‘affordable’.

    - Superb dimensions. 50mm lug to lug (with links included that protrude), 40.5mm diameter, 13mm thick and 20 mm bracelet.
    - METAS certification.
    - 60 hour power reserve.
    - On the fly micro adjustment of 2.5mm in two slots. Could be more if I’m honest.
    - Date and time zone complication.
    - Lovely looking movement.

I would have liked to see a white dial or a black dial with white lume. Lovely watches though.

    ^^^ I agree.

Much better size than the existing ‘57 range that were 41.5mm and also had male end links, which extended the effective L2L.

Overall a nice release, but I'm not too enamoured with the look of the movement.

It's a shame that the sandwich dial isn't available in the other colours.

Edit - also not keen on the shiny leather straps

I don’t really get the point of this model, particularly now it has a manual wind movement and is almost the same size as the Moo watch, but is more expensive. I know Omega would never do this as it would be at odds to their strategy of releasing numerous moonwatch limited editions, but I would much prefer them to release some different variations of the Moonwatch in their permanent collection. They just brought out a green dial Moonwatch in gold, which 90% of people can’t afford, I would have loved that release in steel, or a silver/white dial version in steel.

I want to like the 57 but there are too many things that don’t work. The glitzy lugs, dimensions and the bracelet all seems a bit weird, and those oily looking leather straps are awful.

    Agreed
These have more glitzy feminine look to them IMO, I really don’t like the black ring around the sub dials. I prefer the original 57 (I much prefer the Pro)

If that had white lume it could be my next watch. As it is the colours don’t work for me so the professional moon watch with sapphire crystal is still out in front.

I like the muted colours, for the same reason I picked a birth year SMP Mark II with a ghosted dial.

However, for me a Speedmaster has to be tricompax.
