Has anyone here successfully sold a watch to Goldsmiths

I stumbled across their used Rolex page, the prices are outrageous 26k for an LV , Subs and GMTs at stupid prices, then I thought hang on how much are they buying them for, so I clicked on the link, and got a call centre, they will not give a conditional price without pictures or the serial number, apparently their experts can value a watch from a picture and establish the condition. and then their offer is subject to a mechanical inspection.

Are they part of WoS (I forget now who’s owned by who). Spoke to them last summer regarding my Panerai I was selling, and they were 50% and some less than the RRP on another same model they were selling. (WF were at least quoting a price that would have had then mark it up 30% more)

You could try maunder watches in Guildford. I've sold to them and I was very happy with the valuation and the general service...

I have sensible offers on them, but after seeing the outrageous prices on their site I was curious what they would offer, everything about goldsmiths is just wrong, the way they sell watches and now the way they by them, I’m just hoping it all goes wrong for them and people see the light

I'm no great fan of Goldsmiths but I'm not seeing anything too glaringly different to other buyers in your posts?

Serial - check it against the registers.
Images - one man's mint is another man's been through a concrete mixer.

I don't find asking for either particularly offensive.

What is so different about that to other buyers?

Yes they are part of WOS. Just like watchfinder, they do markup everything 20-30%. I think they can just use the brand to sell at a much higher markup than others

Most stuff we buy is probably marked up 20-30% or more so why should used watches be different?

Some do, some don’t. Use the ones that do if that suits.
