Looks more like the strap than the watch.
Hello all,
just a quick question, hoping to find someone who might know. I’ve been after a black dial, midsize 8500 AT for a few years and they never seem to come up for sale in the UK. I’ve finally found one on a leather strap and noticed a gap around the lugs. It is advertised as scratch free which is odd for a 14yr old watch!
It seems like a strange place for polishing: is this some overzealous restoration or something with the leather? I should add that it could just be the wrong strap but it is an omega stamped one. Seems odd to spend OEM money on something that doesn’t fit, though.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
Looks more like the strap than the watch.
Looks like an 18mm strap on 19mm lugs - which I believe this watch has.
Can you ask for more pictures?
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
Thanks both, that’s reassuring. I was aware of the odd lugwidth but it just seemed odd to have a strap which doesn’t fit. Particularly a branded one on a deployant
Yes, have received a few but all look similar. This one is another
Give me one good reason why you would think this gap had appeared as a consequence of refinishing?
Think about it, it’s totally implausible!
Straps have a bad habit of shrinking slightly.
Am scratching my head wondering how overpolishing can cause a gap??
It is obviously a wrong strap. Even otherwise nothing to suggesting over zealous polishing.
Or extra strong spring bars pushing the lugs apart...
Ok. Apologies to everyone. Clearly I was being very stupid, which is a frequent occurrence. Nonetheless, thank you for your help. I’ll stop asking silly questions, for today at least.
Lovely looking watch I have to say

I have had this with a couple of leather straps. They shrink by about 2mm after about 6 months of use.
