Is it a tad windy at yours?

In Finchley London it’s getting blowey now but so far the only casualty is a daffodil which has fallen over. Fingers crossed…. But it’s coming I fear.

At 9.00am on the Wirral it was very calm, no movement of trees etc and the sun was shining. I thought I’ll take that. A hour later it’s gone a lot darker, raining quite heavily now and the wind is getting up.

    Something is coming in…

I'm on the edge of Bodmin Moor. The wind has been steadily increasing for a few hours now.

Totally quiet here. After seeing the short vid of the flying wheelie bin, I’ve decided to put them inside. I even boarded-up an old window in the 52 y/o chicken barn; I think that the grey binliner that was there instead of glass will not survive 24 hrs of havoc

In tornado alley they would call it a light breeze

Absolutely horrendous in the Forest of Dean, slates are rattling on the roof and trees are bent double, we are used to bad weather where we are but this is on another level.

Pretty bad with us. Seems like a normal fairly bad storm then suddey there's the odd gust which could have you off your feet.

Light breeze here in South Yorkshire, but when it rains it pours - very heavy showers!
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

Nothing to report here in Darlington. There was a smattering of snow, but that's melted. Not much wind but it's expected to pick up at 3pm. Think we'll miss the worst of it.

Nothing like they said it was going be this minute. It’s windy but it always is here at 700ft above sea level Cannock Staffordshire.

Blowing a gale in West London.
I am keeping one eye on the scaffold across the road, the ‘Top Hat’ is making a racket. All cars have been moved away from it.

    Update, this scared me.
I went up to the top of my garden earlier to get something from the shed. Just took it back and two panes of glass had blown out from the greenhouse roof due to the door blowing open and internal pressure building up. One of them had flown right across the garden. This happened in between my shed trips and could easily have been fatal.
    Be carefull out there guys.

Just been out for an hour long walk. Rained most of the time, but the wind wasn’t an issue.

It somehow seems easier to live with during the day when you can see what’s going on.

The next 4 or 5 hours are forecast to be the worst.

Indeed. "A quick trip up the shed can do no harm", it's the old thing though where you assume you are safe on your own property, of course, you are no safer there than anywhere else.

Sadly there will be deaths due to people attempting to protect their property ...

The only reason to go out is if you get a call from your AD for that Daytona ...

That 'blowing up' thing was demonstrated to me in a science museum in Florida. There was a set up to demonstrate exactly what you wrote. Basically, the house/shed is blown up from inside. (The set-up was sponsored by a hurricane shutters installation company, but its display had made its point).

I'm starting to figure out a safe route to walk the dog later this afternoon and evening... My primary plan is to walk to the north: 20 trees and then meadows, open fields. The south-bound route goes leeward of thousands of trees... They are my own trees, but still... I have no intention of being the subject of a few lines in tomorrow's newspaper...

Still, currently the wind is less severe than I'd expected after reading the forecasts. 'Eerily quiet' is perhaps the best phrase!

    Stay safe.

Yes that is it. I couldn't work out what had happened initially. There was glass by the shed which is a good twenty plus feet from the greenhouse, so I looked at the shed at first expecting one of its windows to be broken. The panes had blown out from the roof of the greenhouse on the far side, and the wind must have then caught them as they blew out and sent them across the garden towards the shed. They had cut straight across the path to the shed, scary stuff, like something from The Omen!

Very windy here in Surrey but no damage.

Took Dot out in the woods this morning and there were loads of rotten branches strewn around.

My son in Devon has had fence panels down and tiles off the roof!
    Cheers,
    Neil.

    This is THE Eunice…

And yes, she was distantly related to the famous Isaac Newton. (Her dad was also named after him).

Just lost a ridge tile, fortunately it went backwards into the garden not forwards through the windscreen of my car. Small blessings and all that.

I guess I'll be waiting a few weeks before I get fleeced by a roofer.

2 ageing fences down, final one remaining.

They were already booked for getting replaced but not until May. Annoyingly I now need to try to repair them.
