Destination/experience hotels in the UK. Help me out!

    Evening all.
It's my mums 70th this week and I'd like to give her and my dad a weekend away to remember. Top of the list was the "fortress" Hotel in the Solent but they have never reopened after covid. I'd like something in a similar sort of theme, a proper "something to experience" thing that they'll talk about for years to come.
My dad isn't as mobile as he once was (Lake District looked good but it's going to be lots of walking). An "all under one roof" sort of complex would be much better.

Budget is limited, under 500 quid certainly. Is it do-able???

My other option is Edinburgh as they have never visited scotland but the journey there and back might be a bit much for a weekend (approx 10 hours of driving).

Always grateful for the knowledge of the forum.

Not sure about the experience thing Kev , but have a look at The Grand in St. Ann’s .
It’s a beautiful traditional hotel with a great position .
The bar is lovely, the whole place is relaxed luxury , a fantastic breakfast and a very very good health club .
Obviously, St Anns and Lytham are not too far and they’ve even got Blackpool nearby if they want to live a little .
Sea view rooms and turrets are worth the extra but it should still come in well under budget .

My mum is 70 and stepdad is 85 and she has limited mobility due to arthritis.
They did a trip to the lakes a year or two back and used the 'mountain goat' tour service.
They have decent minibuses and give a really good tour over all the main passes so that you get up close to the scenery and plenty of opportunities to get out for a look.its a full days excursion. They have been around a long time and are very well recommended.

There are a couple of 4x4 excursions as well but I haven't had experience with them and imagine it gets a bit bouncy.

The ladore falls hotel is a good base while up there, great views and service

They can also go for trips round the lake from the ashness boat landing on the Keswick/Derwent launch

My parents are regular visitors to Inglewood Manor, they like the food, helpful staff & lovely grounds.
