Thread: Quick Release Bracelets

    Quick Release Bracelets

My last two Christopher Ward watches have come with QR bracelets and I have to say the functionality is absolutely brilliant. Allow you to pop the bracelet on and off in seconds, and if you have a QR strap you can fit that in seconds too. I've almost abandoned standard spring bars. Too much of a faff.

Are other manufacturers doing this, or is CW leading the way? I know you can buy the QR straps, but don't hear a lot about bracelets. Here's a couple of photos. You just pinch the two prongs and off bracelet pops, or on it goes.

Quite a few now. AP started doing it on ROO. I have a VC that has quick release.

That is a QR strap. I was more thinking about QR bracelets as QR straps are quite common.

Is the VC bracelet QR too?

The VC has the same QR mechanism for bracelet, and two straps. (stock pic)

You can see the fixed bars in this pic

and the bracelet attached - sorry I don't have a pic of reverse side to hand

I think it's becoming more popular for sure. I've had micro-brands with this, pretty sure my last Zelos had a quick release bracelet.

VC and Cartier also spring to mind immediately.

Fossil were fitting quick release bracelets to the Defender line from 2014.

Omega (latest Seamaster Chrono), IWC, Roger Dubuis, Cartier, Piaget all offer QR systems.

My IWC 3227 (a model released in 2005) had a simple mechanism for changing the bracelet to strap, and also quick release bracelet links.

So they have been around for a while, but Apple made it popular tbh - they showed the industry years ago that you could make a lot of money from straps / bracelets if you made them easier to change.
