Watch decisions (Rolex post- please ignore if of no interest)

Been offered either the 126619LB Rolex Submariner WG with blue bezel or a 126719BLRO GMT white gold with blue dial; both are arriving this week and I need to pick one. Both on my wish lists I can always get the other later on. My initial thoughts are the GMT as it will finish of my GMT collection in all metals and this year looks set to be busy with traveling for myself.

The Sub I am debating as I am still tempted to go for full yellow gold with blue dial but have not seen it yet in person.

Just after thoughts from people who own both or either.

I already own other PM watches so am fully aware that the gold is soft and will mark and have learnt to live with this. This will be a daily wearer as I intend to wear my watches more this year and enjoy daily rather then have them stashed away.

This is also part of my long term plan to switch my daily wearers to Pm variants where feasible.

    Some stock photos.

I have another TT submariner to pick up this week so makes not picking the sun this time easier.

Personally i'd go the GMT as it looks 'warmer' and more depth to me at least.
I dont think you could go wrong with either.

Both great watches, but obvious choice there. GMT with blue dial.

Show us pics when you get it.

It’s the Sub for me. Always liked the look of the WG version.

If you’re in to PM Rolex pieces I’d go WG GMT, YG Sub’, RG DD.

WG Sub for me - WG GMT too similar to the SS (plus, I actually prefer the black dial of the SS).

WG Sub out of those 2 for me. Nice decision to make. Hope you have a chance to see them side by side in person before deciding?? Martyn.

As Martin has said “ If” you have the option to see them together one will naturally pull you towards it. At a risk of quoting our colleagues across the water, one will “sing” to you.
Looking forward to the incoming post.

Would absolutely love either, but I’d go for the Sub.

    Haven’t owned either though.

WG Sub for me. I don’t see the point in the WG BLRO unless meteorite.

Yes the GMT ! I have a 2021 unworn Pepsi GMT on a Jubilee bracelet- cost me £14K from a grey dealer but now less than a year later they are selling for £20K+ The other GMT In’s don’t seem as popular?

  18. #18
I would personally go for the Submariner because I’m unsold on the blue dial version of the GMT (but I haven’t seen one in person).

Having said that, you should go for the GMT because that seems like your preference from the post. It also has a much higher chance of being discontinued than the sub, so you might not be able to buy it from an AD in the future.

From my perspective, I would go with the GMT.
IMO, a more attractive and practical watch.

And I have never considered any dive watch to be practical/tool if made from PM.

Not much in it and both great, marginally prefer the WG sub.

  22. #22
As you also have a TT Submariner arriving this week I would opt for the GMT. You are acquiring a lot of watches over a short period of time so hope you get the opportunity to wear and enjoy them.

Not seen either in person so take my post with a pinch of salt, but if I won a competition and was told to pick one of those I'd go for the GMT.

Nice problem to have. It's not even a 'which do I want' problem by the sounds of it, it's a 'which do I want first' problem

I should perhaps have said that I’ve had previous incarnations of both, the Sub’ wins for me every time simply ‘cos of the glidelock clasp.

I have the same sentiment as Dan and have owned a WG Pepsi. Not having a glidelock becomes more apparent because of the weight of the watch. The Submariner is also more individual compared with the SS versions not just because of the blue bezel but also having the PCL's as well.

For me, it's the Sub hands down.

If it was the meteorite GMT then it would be a different discussion.

No bad choice there. Personally I love the Sub but it sounds like you have a yearning to complete the GMT set so go with your instinct.

I like the GMT more - have tried it on and loved it. The blue dial is gorgeous in my eyes. Considering whether to consolidate towards one at some point this year.

Look: great I love the blue dial on the sub, I do find the clasp slightly to long for me.

They will be both coming into the fold over the year, a bit earlier then expected but agree it’s not a terrible problem to have:)

For me the sub looks gorgeous and not as busy as the GMT.

I'm assuming that as they are PM, availability isn't a massive problem. If it is an issue and you do intend to get both at some stage, ideally this time you go for the one that's harder to get.

I really appreciate that and have scrolled past the posts to say thank-you and can we make this a forum rule?

I'm biased as I own a white gold GMT as per one of your options and, since I purchased it, it would obviously be my choice. Only you can decide which you want now and which you'll buy later; enjoy!

From those pictures I’d be taking the sub.
