I have their original Piccard and is a monster.
Addition of a rotating bezel is a plus but the ghost bezel doesn’t do it for me. Like the profile though.
After being quite impressed with the Hull Chrono I picked up last year, I was interested to receive an email about the Spinnaker Piccard.
Not, as I half expected, a Star Trek themed watch, but a (loose) homage to the Rolex taken down to extreme depths.

The Piccard, named after someone involved in the original project, I think (I read it a few days ago now, so it may just be an oceanographer) uses the generic Seiko NH35 movement and only offers 550M WR (probably enough for the average swimmer).
It's a 'bold statement' watch and is on offer at the moment for a price in the mid £300s with a discount code.
I put one in the basket, but in the end I bottled out.
I'm trying to cut down my collection and certainly limit additions and I just couldn't see me wearing this one much at 45mm and with that huge crystal.
Anyone been tempted?
As a final point, it seems there was another Piccard from Spinnaker, for more money, but with a better(?) spec and as a limited edition.

It reminds me of one of my 'if only' watches (if only I had the money - if only I had the chutzpah to wear it!) -

Jim.
I would be far to scared to wear it.
Looking at reviews of the original Piccard, this one is clearly a mass market redesign.
Not necessarily a bad thing, but the original was bigger (not sure that is a good thing), titanium, had a far more interesting dial, came in a lovely wooden box and featured a better movement.
Bringing this down into the $350-400 range is sensible to sell more, but that original had a real sense of drama about it, which this one, while no shrinking violet lacks.
The switch to steel is the biggest disappointment for me - If the new one had been titanium I think I'd have been tempted, but as it is, it's a pass from me.

That is better. The Spinnaker looks nothing like the Rolex Piccard. If anything the Unimatic Due is closer to the Piccard.

Just ordered one in black, will be about a week to arrive............
Just received one. It's a great divers watch - you wouldn't need weights! It's quite the chunk of metal.
Different though, and pretty cool I think. Wouldn't want it as my only watch but it's a fun thing.
