GS. I like Grand Seikos.
For me they are more interesting and more aesthetically appealing.
Out of the two for a day to day watch and something that looks good and makes you feel good for wearing a nice watch whilst out having a meal with the good lady then which one would you go for?
Tudor Black Bay 58 Black or a Grand Seiko SBGN005 GMT.
Two very nice watches, what's your thought's?

Two great watches.
Many on here will go for the Black Bay, it's very popular for a good reason.
I, probably in the minority, would go for the GS. Lovely looking watch, superb build quality, great size and about as accurate as your ever likely to get
I just got my first GS and I have to say am becoming a convert

Tudor for me - I prefer a diver style watch and slimmer profile. I could wear that every day with the wife for a meal out or down the pub.

Tudor for me too
Another vote for Tudor - there's a nice warmth to it when light catches the gilt hands. I find that a charming feature.

I'd prefer the GS. The case and dial finishing are in a different league.

That's a tough one! But I think in the end I would go for the Tudor. They're really hitting all the right notes recently and I think that the BB58 has achieved a rare thing; it's managed to reference a vintage vibe but without the shame; it's not a cheesy attempt to cash in on yesteryear, it's taken what's good about historical aesthetics and made it contemporary.
I wear a PO 8900 day to day and it's a bit of a chunk, though in my view it's one of the most accomplished wrist watches at any cost at the moment (hence why I have one) but it just wouldn't hold a candle to the Tudor in cuffs...
Tricky one… they’re quite different in style and functions.
BB58 for me though… if I didn’t want a date and gmt.
I've neither a Tudor or a GS and not that interested in either, but of the two, I'd go with the GS.
A bit less toolish and a bit more classy IMO.
I do prefer diver style watches, and the Tudor is great, but would have to go for the GS in this case just because I can't get away with that snowflake hand.
Nice choice to have to make. I have that Tudor so would probably recommend that. Lovely weight and not too showy. But I’d love to make a GS my next purchase.

For me it is the overall look and feel, I just prefer the case shape on the BB compared to the GS
In absolute terms there is little in the dimensions - apparently the GS is 0.1mm thicker!:
BB: 20mm lugs, lug-to-lug 47.5mm, thickness 12mm, diameter 39mm or 39.5mm with the overhanging bezel. https://professionalwatches.com/revi...-black-bay-58/
GS: 19mm lugs, lug-to-lug 46mm, thickness 12.1mm, diameter 39mm

Maybe I need to see the GS in the flesh as only seen Internet pics and it doesn't 'do-it' for me - as I know the BB does. My personal preference.

^^ ah my mistake then, for some reason I was sure that the GS 9F GMT was slimmer.. I tend to think all of the Tudor's are a bit slab sided . While I like the Black Bay Blue the case shape & rivet bracelet put me off a bit..
Seems they both have their fans, the blue dial on the GS is very nice as is the dial on the Tudor...
one just popped up in SC :) the black dial version..

Grand Seiko.
GS.
The Tudor is a good choice
The GS is an enlightened choice
You feel so much more smug wearing a GS ;)

I have had both…and still have the BB58, so what does that tell you? Both excellent choices, and you can’t go wrong with either, but it’s the 58 for me by quite a large margin, and a lot of that is to do with the bracelet.
It would be the GS for me. That particular model is on my shortlist for a 50th birthday watch later this year. Need to get to a GS boutique for a trying on session at some point.
Both great watches but I'd go bb58 but in blue!
GS for me
I would go for nearly every GS over nearly every Tudor, but in this case if it was my money I'd go for the Tudor just because that's not my favourite GS.
If you like them both though, try and find somewhere where you can hold them both in your hands. I would imagine the GS would win hands down once you did that.
BB58 imho. It's just a much better size and more coherent design compared to the GS.
I have nearly both of these - BB58 blue and sbgn001.
For a nice dinner out I would choose the BB58 as it’s less busy and without the sportier pop of colour so in my mind more elegant (though not a word I’ve ever associated with it before!).
It’s funny - the GS has much sharper finishing and polishing yet from design looks sportier to me, but at the same time I think of the BB58 as more rugged (especially on a nato). Maybe it’s just the higher WR.
In case it’s not obvious from the above, the BB58 gets worn a lot more.
Very true! But I usually pick my Tudor over my Rolex which makes me feel enlightened too
