That second run was sublime and taking the lead by 0.38, despite 5 others running after him with up to 0.81 seconds advantage over him, he put them under so much pressure most that followed straddled or made massive errors. That second run was akin to the great Marcel Hirscher. I always knew Dave had it in him to win. Such a great bloke in all the interviews and his social media

We've followed the ups and downs (no pun intended) of Dave's career. Well done that man, great to see him in the winner's comfy chair and in first place.

I enjoyed this. Great to see Dave get a win.

I don't know if anyone saw last weeks, it was nail biting stuff as the guy who was 29th after the first run won. He was second today.

We love our winter sports, we particularly like the acerbic commentary of David Goldstrom on the ski jumping. He brings a style all his own.

Looking forward to the Winter Olympics.

Sat watching it in a bar in Morzine. The French owner was massively pleased he won, real nice guy on the circuit apparently.

A bit harsh as he's been a regular top 10 finisher over the last few seasons and finished second at Kitzbuhel a few seasons ago.

He had a good first run, no one else was getting near his time by the time he skiied (ok, one skiier did beat him, but generally...) and then he nailed the second run.

A podium looked possible, but then the rest cracked.

Great result for a proper, home grown skiier, rather than some British passport holder who grew up in Switzerland.

He can dine out on this for the rest of his days.

I read that more as a reference to England having no skiing (apart from dry and indoor, which doesn't really count). At the weekend kids in the UK are playing football while those abroad near slopes are skiing. Tough competition.

Exactly what I meant. And he’s just as popular abroad from it.

Fair enough, I partly read it as a total outsider getting an unexpected result.

    It's certainly a huge achievement.

When he finished his second run he knew he’d put in an epic time and the rest couldn’t match it.

Fully deserved result for a really determined competitor. Any of the negative comments are well off the mark.

I watched Ski Sunday just to see Dave, however I was in awe of the ‘freestyle’ Swiss skier/ filmmaker. Some of those lines were epic. The preparation checking for crevasses etc showed the level of professionalism and management of risk.

This is definitely worthy of a film. This guy started out skiing at such a disadvantage, dry ski slopes. Dave is ace - followed his career over the last few years. An incredible achievement.

Both my sons race slalom and dry slopes are an ok substitute but even the longest courses are only 20 seconds long... It does teach them good technique.

    Makes Dave's achievement so impressive.

I used to Ski at the dry ski slope in Sheffield many years ago. It was bloody horrible, no substitute for proper snow.
