17 bedrooms but all the beds are in one room?
It’s the house that taste forgot.
I do like the full pub though.

I'm guessing it was bought and furnished quite a few years ago, when money was a little more plentiful.

Guessing Booby George due to the caricature on the wall.

If you could afford that then hopefully you could afford to spend the money (lots) on it to make it a truly modern/up to date fantastic place to live, lakes look good, a nice fishing lodge needed and plenty of space for a LARGE garage/workshop.

My dogs would love all that space to mess about in as I would :)

I like that it's on George Hall Lane.

Let’s see… Has to be a colour blind snooker player with a passion for toilets?

I think he used to be a builder and built it himself. Wonder why he had 17 bedrooms though?

    With only 2 bathrooms
That would have been some queue in the morning

I quite like it. I'd swap my house for it.

Recall him showing someone around years and years ago on a documentary. House was designed and built to replicate a darts flight which explained the odd shaped rooms. Apparently had a thriving fishing business with the lake too.

Even Bobby couldn’t explain why the number of bedrooms. He got bored showing the presenter around on number nine or ten and said he hadn’t set foot in a number of them for years. Decor aside the main thing I remember was him having to have all the lights on despite it being the middle of the day. The house was so poorly designed there was no natural light........the hallways resembled tunnels

I'm surprised it hasn't sold. Griping about decor aside, it's in a good location and seems liveable. I think, despite the location, the asking price is still rather high. (Or there's something really bad that shows up with a survey or local search).

Liveable but terrible layout and could well cost fortune to sort out. For that money I'd buy something more traditional.

The layout doesn't bother me; for me it would be liveable. A pub, lots of bedrooms that can be repurposed cheaply and easily for model railways, server room, library, office, all suit me fine. ;-) But then that's me.

It's the price that would be the killer for me. It's rather hypothetical since I can't afford it but I think it might be worth £500K-£1M less than the current asking price, despite size, grounds and location within commuting distance from London.

Each to their own of course but I'd want more than just liveable for that price!

The area has very good schools. Plenty of history if you're interested in the Romans. Good pubs. That's a few boxes on my list ticked.

Plus a new Rolex agent is moving to Colchester and the area has received a bit of a boost during Covid relative to some of the traditional commuter towns closer to London, which haven't fared as well IMHO.

Thing is, natural light has a significant effect on mood. This doesn't have much.

I'm with Mark, I think this is probably a bit overpriced considering the work required.

It's ugly and uninspiring, I just wouldn't, not to live in it myself...maybe a knocking shop all those bedrooms, at the right price, ah just seen only 2 bathrooms so that´d need addressing.

A statement perhaps, house went up in the 80's didn't it?.

That's 8,000 fugly sq ft to redecorate/ do over and he only want 2.7 mill in it's current condition, jeez almost no natural light, Colchester...c'mon...
