Moot point as acknowledged...but I got the impression his commitment's, some circumstances, possibly a bit questionable.

    Sorry if it's too soon.

The character had never been killed before though, not for real anyway. I understand that the end credits may have mentioned that Bond will be back (don't they always?) though I'm struggling to see how James Bond can be anymore. As I said, 007 is available though not the agent that took the position.

Someone, somewhere knows where it's going though. There's no way Bond would have been killed without a masterplan behind it, be it an opportunity for a female or whatever to carry the torch onwards. There's the possibility that his death was faked so that future villains wouldn't go after either his daughter or mother of in order to get to Bond himself, a form of protection if you like.

I don't know how this will unfold and neither does anyone here. Whatever happens though it absolutely must be credible.

Their identities were changed in that way, yes. But they are minor parts. The movies aren't really about them. Interestingly when the producers wanted to give the Bill Tanner role to a black actor (Colin Salmon) they did change the identity - to "Charles Robinson".

I think it'll just be another reboot; same character, same name.

    Red face

The next Bond ideally needs to be a relatively unknown actor, but one who fits the part and can actually act. :) It's going to be tough.

Well it will be a different timeline, just as the Daniel Craig timeline was different from (for example) the Roger Moore one. In the first Craig film, we see him becoming a 00. No-one thinks that everything happened in the Connery, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton and Brosnan films happened in the career of the Daniel Craig 007, do they? For one thing Felix Leiter has his leg chewed off by a shark at one point, but shortly before 007's death, it's grown back.

There is some continuity between earlier Bonds to be fair, but all of that went out of the window with Casino Royale. And they'll just do the same thing again.

OK so apparently I responded to the same post twice. But at least my opinion didn't change.

It's strange. I really don't like him acting, never seen him do anything remotely convincingly.
But when I see him as himself, interviewing Paul McCartney, attempting the speed record at Pendine in a Bentley etc, he comes across as a thoroughly likable bloke.

It will be odd now that Bond is dead.

Get over that hump, and we have the progressive trend to deal with.

Idris, older and chauvinist, would placate everyone. Could be played for laughs. Plus I think he'd be great in the role.

Just been watching the Brit awards and Idris is trying so hard to look and sound like a rapper that I can only hope he's playing that for laughs. But I suspect he's serious.
007 in a pink patent Gucci jacket and black out raybans anyone?

    And his fly undone.

Really like Idris but that Brit Awards appearance was pathetic. The guy is 49.

I didn't even recognise him until the compair introduced him. And "da Street talk" he spoke in suited him about as much as his jacket. Didn't notice his fly undone, but he certainly made a d#@k of himself.
