I committed a schoolboy error and placed a letter in the same place on the second line. Doh!

But it is my first time.

Nailed it in three again today. Three letters in my first guess, little bit lucky but still Super sweet!
Only one fail so far (a few days ago - I think the answer was Robot). My ten year old daughter is hooked too and it should be great for her vocabulary, and she's trying to get her year 5 class teacher to include it in their morning task along with "countdown" which they already do.

Thanks to the OP of this thread, I doubt I'd have stumbled on it otherwise.

On a downward trajectory after 3 days of playing - scored 3, 4, and today 5. Doesn't help to hear everyone saying it was an easier one

Two letters after four tries. Going to try the last two after some coffee tomorrow, can’t go to bed on a loss.

  10. #110
    4 today.

Not related to today's puzzle but been thinking of tricky 2x double letter words, eg SHOOS etc. There are even a few words with just 2 letters, eg MAMMA, UNNUN, etc...

Same here, managed to get an incredible 11 letters wrong in my first 3 guesses, took a silly punt on the 4th which didn't help but got it on the fifth. I suppose whether a puzzle is tough or not depends largely on the first guess but that was a good one for today.

Another 4 for me today which seems to be my go to score with half of my attempts being 4's....

For those of you leaving it for tomorrow, does it let you do that? I thought it was a one word per day game and had assumed if you didn't get it in that day, it was a fail?

    Cheers,

    Adam.

3 goes and still only had the 1 correct letter in the correct place from my first go. I ended up at the full 6 and seem to be getting worse!

Messed up my 2nd word and had a few variations for the winner so a poor 4 for me. Oh well!

A 4 is not poor, it is 'splendid'.

A disappointing 5 today. Pretty much drew a blank after two though.

a failure for me, despite having 3 in the right place at the third. I made the mistake of trying to conclude asap instead of ignoring the 3 and trying to eliminate more letters in one go.

    Great stuff, cheers.

  24. #124
Four today but only due to pure luck after getting four letters at the third attempt which made it obvious after only one letter in the first two. That’s six out of seven after the double letter threw me in my first game.

Today true to form zilch letters first line, so consistency there at least, somehow managed a 3...but then so did the mrs.

Interesting today. Got the first three right on the first guess, which left me still with five or six solutions. I wanted to avoid having to guess which one and risk ending up with five or six trials, so tried to find a word for the second guess which would give me a near 100% hit for the third. Bullseye.

3 for me with 2 in the right place for my first guess and nothing added with my second guess.

I returned to the earlier ones on the link provided below and have to say the second one tied me up in knots.

What is everyone's go to start word? I modified it a little today. Used to always start with GREAT for some reason but thought would mix it up today.

I always start with AUDIO - stats so far 2X3 2X4 2X5 (though I could have kicked myself with one of the fives when I should have got it in three) - so it's working OK for me, I feel

Different most days, but I nicked the "Audio" suggestion from here a few times to blast the vowels. I try for words with a couple of the lesser used letters, c, p and y seem popular on there. Coder, pecks and yours are some I've used recently. My wife always uses an "ing", lying is a good start.

Sixth guess today, started out with my usual 2 guesses which left me with one letter in the wrong place.
