Is there such a thing as a HAQ quartz diver, or tool watch, in a smaller size?
I have a Sinn UX which I love, but I just feel it’s just a little too big for me. Sweet spot for me would be 40mm, but a mm or two either way would be ok. Any suggestions to replace the UX?

If you can find one of Eddie’s chronometer certified PRS-18’’s, that would fit the bill for a HAQ diver. I think the diameter is 39mm. I owned an automatic version. Great watch.

U50 cased UX would just about be my perfect watch.

The Seiko SBCM023 might be an option as it’s sized at 39mm and the 8F35 movement is apparently accurate to 20 seconds per year.
Yes that’s the Seiko I was talking about, are they hard to get hold of, not made anymore I think?
What about the PRS18A COSC version? 40mm and HAQ.
Certina DS Action at 41mm has a 'Precidrive' HAQ and a choice of dial finishes, bracelet &c. I've owned a Certina quartz diver, and it was a fantastic watch - the finishing is exceptional, it's by no means a compromise watch.
Longines Hydroconquest at 39mm delivers everything but HAQ:

I must admit I do have one of these that I bought from the forum very recently, it’s a fantastic watch.
Really I’m looking to replace my Sinn with a diver type HAQ watch, one without the hassle of sending to Germany for a battery change in the future.
Production ended around 2010. They pop up used from time to time. The perpetual calendar is very nice to have. Together with the very long battery life and high accuracy, in a country (such as Japan) where there is no DST, it makes for a very easy watch to own. The red text doesn’t hurt either.

Another boredom phase recently led to me reducing the collection, including my Submariner 14060. I find this Seiko entirely acceptable in its place. Like the Rolex, it just does the job, albeit in a different way. It's probably rarer too.
Note that the accuracy of 20 seconds a year is specified “when used on the wrist approximately 12 hours a day, at normal temperature range (5° C ~ 35° C)”. Which is more than fine for anyone outside of a specialist watch forum, but if you leave it in the watch box, expect up to +-4 seconds a month (Seiko's figures).

Well 20 seconds was the rating when new, unfortunately crystals tend to drift over time. Now these movements have a circuit you can "punch" for a one-time correction but it's tricky and there's a good chance of killing your watch in the process !
My SBCM023 is still like new, I need to put a new battery in someday ;-)

My father had a Seiko perpetual calendar watch which my son now wears (sometimes). It's a real faf to reset the calendar!

I've never had to do it. The movement has a low battery indicator, and a capacitor which gives you around 10 minutes to do the battery change without having to reset the calendar.

For quartz divers, it is hard to ignore Scurfa's range.
They may not be HAQ, but all quartz are very accurate, and Scurfas are excellent value.
I have the Ti non-date version, love it.
