    R.I.P Ronnie Spector

One of the Ronnettes. Great music from one of the first girl bands.

The soundtrack to my life is departing the planet in alarming numbers.

What a monumental change came to the world of popular music by dint of the premier US girl groups of the 1960s.

A sad day, with many more sad days to come.

Very sad, she was possibly Keith Richards' first real love, but certainly one of his most enduring. We are losing so many from that great time.

OMG...I loved Ronnie since her debut when I was in high school. I just watched a "Be My Baby" video yesterday!

    Gutted!

    Ronettes biopic ?

Funnily enough, I'd watched this one only two days ago:

Not so sure about the uploader's choice of Amandla Stenberg to play Ronnie.

RIP indeed. Brings back memories of the time that I was very young. With my mom in the living room, she singing with the songs to the radio. Me being at the dinner table being home-schooled. I'm sure that the radio wasn't on during 'school hours' but it's all in one memory of the early 60s.
Mind you, my parents and I are (were) Dutch, so hearing my mother sing in a different language was rather odd.

    That's very well said.

My Jukebox is blasting out "Be my Baby" and the windows are rattling.

The Ronnettes, The Shangri-Las, The Supremes, The Dixie Cups, Martha and The Vandellas... some of my favourite ever music from this lot alone.

    Terrible shame, love The Ronnettes.

Only a few weeks ago I was playing Phil Spector's Christmas album in which Ronnie features so strongly.

    RIP Ronnie.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

This afternoon on 6Music Craig Charles played her version of Say Goodbye To Hollywood, quite sublime.
