    Unhappy Sinn. So nearly perfect!

I'm always wanted an Orfina Porsche Design in black PVD, like this:

The closest thing I've seen is a Sinn 144 ST SA, like this:

But it's stainless steel, not PVD. If only they made a PVD version. And then they did, like this!

It's SO nearly perfect, but the whole 'blackout' look is ruined by the silver sub dials. I wrote to them to ask whether they could make me one with the standard all black face from the standard watch, but they said no.

So now I wonder about this 140ST, which, in all black, seems to be as close as I can get. But I worry that it's too chunky and too fussy (an awful lot going on with that dial).

So close to the perfect watch, but not quite. If only they'd put the all black dial on the PVD 144... :(

If you can live with a used watch, Sinn have made a fair number of limited editions of the 144 with all-black dials, and either red or orange chrono hands - there's a couple on Chrono24, e.g.

Although straying from the lugless theme, Hanhart's Primus is worth a look:

Why settle for anything less than an Orfina Porsche Design?
They are readily available and relatively affordable. I have had a few, they are one of the truly great designs.

That's what I was thinking - you don't need to look for a substitute. It would likely be cheaper and you could even get it re-PVDed* and be less than a new Sinn.

    *personally I wouldn't bother.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Is that a Lemania 5100 movement in the Oerfina?
It looks like the movement in a Speedie Mark 4.5

The omega 1045 is the Lemania 5100. It just has a bit of Omega plating on it.
Just like every Omega chronograph movement up until the use of the 7750 in certain speedies was a Lemania movement. The 321, 861, 1040 etc etc

    "Sin. So nearly perfect!"

    Theologically accurate.

Just finding one I guess. I've only ever bought used watches from Sales Corner on here, not sure where to look and who to trust.

I fear you will be disappointed with the quality by comparison to the real thing.

Love the new re-issue, and really love the fact that, because the Lemania movement is not available, they have re-created the original '72 case design, with its sharper angled chamfers on the crystal surround. The later Lemania version (which W&W have used for the advert pic - doh) has a very different one, with a smooth bullnose.

I’ve been on the lookout for a good original example of an Orfina Porsche Design Chronograph 1 for a while, do you know of any that are currently being sold - not sure they are readily available, but would be more than happy to be proved wrong!

I freely admit I may be a little out of date, but (like many watches) these were mass produced and should not be too rare. I have owned about 5 or 6, from recollection, and I also got one restored one completely, getting it re-coated by Schifferle & Schifferle (the rightful successors to Orfina), having found a donor movement and so forth.
    This is it after restoration

In that respect, I have noticed that recently on Ebay, a lot of dials, crowns, bracelets and even some watches (one UK seller recently sold 3 in a week for about £700 each for restoration) have been popping up.

The Orfina PD is a watch I have always wanted but for some reason never bought and I have no idea why!
Would need to be a H3 dial though (Royal Navy even better)
The green PVD versions looks the bo11ox.

Somehow I've never owned a Sinn, or even tried one on. Not quite sure how this has happened as I've always really liked them from afar.
