    Dressing down a Grand Seiko

I love GS, for all the obvious reasons, and I'm starting to think seriously about getting one. Ideally a Spring Drive, but am fully open to suggestions. The trouble is I find most of the regular collection a bit too dressy (I'm a scruffy so & so), and I've never found a diver that I really like.

I think my solution is going to be to make a shortlist of the least dressy non-divers in the range, choose one, then dress it down further with a strap. I was considering doing this with a white OP39 for a while, but the right one never came up.

Clearly this is not rocket science, but does anyone have experience of doing this with a GS & are there any obvious models I should look at?

This is quite a good thread to browse through to get some ideas and comparisons

Dear god, 95 pages of GS on straps. That's actually amazing, thanks fella.

What about one of the new SD Prospex / marinemaster / land master. Not a GS but same movements and 90% of the build quality? I think they look better than most GS as well, I am also a scruffy sod so their styling suits me a bit better! If it like the dressier GS and the divers always have a design element that I dislike for some. Reason.
I am seriously thinking about getting one (the Spring drive GMT with blue and black bezel) instead of a GS if I chop a couple in.
But they are not a GS.

I've not looked at that thread, but I'm sure there's plenty of inspiration on there. I have a black gator strap for my hi-beat GMT. It really helps make the case shape/design stand out. Terribly pics below...

The two I've got are both pretty versatile in that they suit a variety of straps, imo

I bought it from a member here some years back. I forget the detail but suspect it was custom made - not much help to you I know..

This is the only other pic I can find of it. It's quite unusual - I think it may be frogskin?!

Thanks, I'll have a hunt around.
    Goes perfectly with your GS.

    Oh yes ..
ancient: 6145 lives on a rather worn hm piece of pull-up leather ..

Modern: sbgw001 scruffs along on an Eddie sand canvas ..

I'm quite taken aback by how well the that GS goes on canvas strap.

Some outstanding combos there & great pics. Especially like these two - stunning dials. What references are they?

Another good resource is the 'Delugs' lookbook page - a few GS on there, and some striking combinations

    e.g. Snowflake

That is actually really helpful - thanks, I had no idea that existed. Some great options for the Snowflake, which is basically the one I'll most likely end up with.
