you could use curved spring bars with a thicker strap

Bought a lovely Seiko 7a28-7039 via a WTB last week, and it’s marvellous. Only thing is the shrouded lugs (had a B1074 bracelet originally) mean it’s tough to fit straps too. Most are too thick at the ends. When I popped off the (lovely) Di-Modell strap it came on off it one of the spring bars looked like a banana - must have taken hours of sweating to get on! Anyway, Q is can anyone recommend 20mm straps that are quite slim at the lug end? Really needs something quite tool watchy given what it is.

https://www.watchobsession.co.uk/pro...18103032184903 fit mate. This strap comes with quick release spring bars which worked fine.
I had a 7a38 with the same case and the green canvas strap looked good.

Thanks for that. Good advice but I have a thing about QR spring bars. My Farer came on them, first time I’d ever used them. I was getting out of the truck one day and shooting my arm through my coat. I guess a thread must have caught the QR bar and the watch flew two feet in the air. By complete fluke I caught it but I’ve never worn a QR strap again.

Does it have to be leather ? Whereas this Speidel 20mm stainless bracelet could never be mistaken for a Seiko B1074S, it follows the ethos.

It certainly doesn’t, I’d just given up finding an aftermarket bracelet which worked but that looks well worth a go! Thanks!

Failing that there's always the erstwhile ubiquitous 20mm 'Feiko' stainless bracelet. I've used them (for want of anything better) on a couple of my Seiko 7A38's (more so on Orient J39's), with hooded 20mm lugs, over the years.* Unfortunately even supplies of these on eBay seem to have completely dried up, as you implied.
But it might be worth dropping a PM to Onelasttime, to see if he still has his.
