Anyway if anyone comes across a Leica 55-135mm F3.5-5.6 Apo Vario Elmar T not from the usual suspects for my TL2...

    Why!
Leica make iconic cameras, so why indulge in a market that is already overloaded with choice. Stick to what you do best, make great cameras & superb lenses but stick to your product. Ralph Lauren watches, case in point.

Hmmm ... but the watch is not designed and made by Leica ... Dr Kaufmann is a WIS and he can likely afford to have a watch designed ... and not for the first time. Leica have a worldwide chain of Leica Boutiques and the watch will likely sell to Leica enthusiasts ... and it may well have something special/unique lacking in other high end watches.

It's the launch of the M11 camera. The preview materials are all online - Ralph Gibson is the featured artist for the launch videos and images. It has nothing to do with watches - the teaser message meant it’s time for a new M camera…..

I seem to recall that the rumoured L3 was a mechanical alarm watch...

    Haven't we been here before?

Can anybody say whether the previous iteration was a success? I'll stand by my earlier comment that they are missing a trick with any Leica watch if they don't do something interesting with the crystal - Leica=good glass.

However it seems that other options are available.

You're very likely correct ... unless the launch is for both the M11 and a Leica watch.

From the "leaks" and an email from a retailer, yours for just £7,500...
    M11
A new and exclusively designed 60 Million Pixel, Full-Frame BSI CMOS Sensor with Triple Resolution Technology adds new imaging technology to the M Family to produce an incomparable level of image quality and grants free choice of resolution, opening up entirely new possibilities in image composition.

    No sign of a watch

Wow really??? Nice looking watches and I like the red details but I'd expect a thinner case given it's manual wind. Maybe there's enough wealthy Leico enthusiasts out there to meet demand.

    I bet there are.

Leica cameras always seem egregiously expensive to me but they're doing well. ;-)

Then again, high quality watches are egregiously expensive nowadays so I'm not sure that Leica's watches at those prices are particularly excessive.
