    Value of a Zenith Daytona

The priced of this surprised me, is this really the current value. I guessed it would go for around £16k or am I out of touch?

Before I opened that I had £29k in my head. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t, but they’ve been over £20k for a long time.

With the new ones now nudging £35k some might say it’s still good value.

A customer of mine struggled a couple of years ago to get an offer over £10k for his Zenith movement bi-metal model. Insane where the steel ones are headed tbh.

I have a steel Daytona and whilst I paid a good premium amount for it at the time, I wouldn’t pay current prices. Much more interesting stuff at £20-30k. E.g. the below JLC for 25k brand new

I wouldn't pay that for the Daytona ,but plenty will The JlC is a nice watch ,but the issue many people have is that the JLC and similar will depreciate 50% very quickly and be difficult to sell on whereas the daytona will hold value if not increase

£30k and it’s not even a tritium dial.
    Not me.

Hmm ones without B and P are going for approx 22-23k. Seems like a full set is commanding a ridiculous premium….

B&P are easily forged so shouldn't add anything to the price, apparently.

B&P are indeed easily forged but it does add to the value because mugs are happy to pay a couple of grand over the odds for something that only cost a max of £100 to make, probably for an older model, less than £50.

Of course in their defence, they will resell on at a later date and will get their money back and more besides, thus perpetuating the con.

I agree, the OP doesn’t. I’m sure he’ll be happy to explain yet again why you’re wrong.

I've had to get mine re-valued and the insurance updated this year. They're actually selling for that money, rather than the 'Tiffany' OPs you see on Chrono for £30-40k

Same here. I bought mine years ago for £6500 and have had to keep upping the value on the home insurance.

It’s ridiculous really and in a strange way, at bit of a shame. I used to wear it quite often, then sent it for a full service and now I hardly ever El wear it cause it’s so valuable.

Some of the black face tritium dialed full sets command crazy prices these days. Like this one, up for a cool £76,537.

Don’t get me started on Patek Nautilus prices. They’re mind blowing now.

You think £76k is steep for Mark 2 dial with 4 lines. Try a Mark 1 with porcelain dial for size:

    https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/rol...id16776871.htm

There was supposedly less than 200 made in steel and these have been 3 figure watches for a number of years now.

12 months ago I sold my Mark 3 with inverted 6 and rarer bracelet for about £18k as I recall. Hey-ho cannot change the past.

I remember the one you had WR. It was a lovely one.

The world has truly gone mad.

And this is why I kick myself I didn’t buy the freshly RSC serviced zenith Daytona from Austin Kaye back in 2014 for £6750.
