    And on Instagram.

She's also writing a book at the moment and still working with her husband, Craig, producing watches (including their own movement).

See also David Rooney, whose new book, About Time, is also superb.

Perhaps post a pic of yourself so that you can be judged on your looks?? :0)

Would love to support them but 16k for one of their watches! Shame as I love the sterling silver case but again, 16k for a reworked Omega movement?

I can’t help but look at brands like Dornbluth and others and see where the problem is with British watchmaking.

Comments have found their way to Rebecca. She sounds smart enough not to allow hurtful comments deter her

    Ouch, haha great response

And for what is worth she looks like a classy lady to me. Not that it should have any relevance.

It would be nice to have her as a member here sharing her knowledge and experiences in the world of watches.

Probably not the best first impression though!

Of course not ideal, but the forum is full of such sexist sentiment. Is Watch Talk different?

A very late contender for the 2021 Diddy of the Year, but it's bringing in a few early contenders for Simp of the Year 2022. I'm not sure what's worse, the misogyny or the simping, but I'd be interested to hear a feminist viewpoint on it.

I'd like to think it was an attempt at humour that missed horribly, but I fear it may have just been what it appeared to be...

Has anyone had a watch built by them? I love the look of both gents and ladies watches but the price is putting me off. Any owners thoughts would be useful.

Actually, it's not. An inspired riposte would be bringing us back to the OP's original subject, that of Rebecca Struthers informative social media feeds.

To be perfectly honest, I tend to avoid Twitter as it's mostly full of things that have no interest for me but after the OP's post I took a look at Rebeccas feed and it's very interesting, a few moments in and the 'retweet' of the working wooden car catching my eye amongst other things. I'll take a look at the instagram posts during the week.

It has also reminded me about their watches. I found a link to their website some time ago and really liked the look of the Kingsley Mk2 with the blue dial. Now at around £17k it is a lot of money although most of it appears to be hand made which is worth the cost alone. Like robert75 I'm curious as to whether anyone on this forum has seen one of these in the flesh or even owns one. From their website it appears that they have a workshop but I'm not sure if it's got a shop attached and/or whether you can see the watches in person and even if you're allowed to visit? I've never been to Birmingham and never had the need to so I would be curious as to whether anyone else knows a lot more than I do. I could of course just email the Struthers to find out.

I had a look at their website a while back I can’t remember if it was because the name was brought up here or simply because I have an interest in brands that are more hand made.

Their website states they have a sterling silver case at 16k. Now I love the look of the case, the hinged case back very similar to the old vintage watches and like one I currently own. I like the design of the lugs but then Ophion does a similar design considerably cheaper. Movement is a reworked Omega with what looks like some hand engraving. The ladies watches are equally nice with guilloche dials and a vintage Longines movement.

My issue is as I say case design, Ophion all be it in steel have it for not even close to that price. Brands like Dornbluth can work with Unitas and add hand engraving and rework the movement (such as in the centre seconds) for a lot less, I think even their gold cases are a lot less.

Even Garrick have a nice hand made dial and decorated movement for less than half the price. Some of the dials remind me of Hentschel dials but I understand it’s all hand made.

For me I would just like to know a bit more detail of what puts it at this price point and/or any owners opinions.

Nothing to add really, other than I went to school with Craig and we were best mates at the time.Sadly lost touch over time but do keep an eye on his socials and how they ate getting on.
From the little I know, their watches are entirely hand built and designed in house, there is plenty to see with some digging around,on the various machinery and processes they use.

Their workshop (no shop attached) is in Regent Place and like so many businesses there they share a large building on the road.

My thoughts entirely. From what I can tell online I imagine they're not aiming to compete with other brands, simply be part of a specialist market and if one of their watches is what appeals to you, then you pay the required price. I'd just like to see one in person as I suspect we all know that pictures of watches can look totally different to how they look in real life. The quoted (on their website) 6 to 8 month lead time might suggest that a lot of hand work goes into their watches.

thanks ralphy, so not much point just turning up to have a look.

that's the impression I get and there are a lot of good pictures online but mostly of the machinery they use and possibly not so much (that I can tell) of the machinery in use or of the component parts of a whole watch going through their processes. I might just be looking in the wrong places.

Have met both of them many times around the Jewellery quarter, and at several events, both very pleasant and have time for any watch people
