This is a discussion forum, so how many and, if you wish to elaborate, why ?
    Merry Christmas!

I've got about six. Two Rolexes that belong to my kids. A Panerai in the shop with Richmont to fix a little niggle (Inshallah). My SBDB005 SD Landmaster (for travel) and my recently acquired Big Pilot, which I love. My grandad's old Rotary Aquaplunge, I think it is. A couple of cheap beaters which the kids wear.

I don't collect, I wear. And I can only wear one at a time!

(Ooh, and a Damasko which has been on order for what feels like an age!)

Three: Two Speedmasters (arrived this week) and a quartz Grand Seiko (SBGX343). Plus a couple of G-Shocks and a Garmin Instinct Solar. But these don’t count.

Have only had one, for nearly a year now. CWC T20

I suspect that it will increase to two early in the new year with a CWC reissue fatboy.

Might have been tempted by a Smiths if they were available with plexi crystals, but those days have gone now.

How many watches do you own ?

Managed to reduce to 5 this year excluding G-Shocks (which I have 5 of).

Covid definitely made me re-evaluate my collection. Lack of face to face meetings, not having to wear a suit made me move a few on.

I may move 1 more on but I now have 4 proper mainstays.

    Ps. Merry Christmas.

I've just totted them up in my head, I think I'm at about 30.

I sold 30 this year after putting the collection together following a house move and shocking myself at how many I own and never wear
Reckon I've got another 10 to shead....

Then I can buy the mission timer and perhaps a bb58 blue and a....

Why? Because I enjoy buying and wearing different watches

    Fifteen. That surprised me.

Then again, that does include two 'smart watches', a Casio with a broken lug, two of my dad's and four that were presents.

So, in terms of watches that I chose and wear, six. Probably seven in the new year, as there is a another CWC calling...

None of them are valuable, but I enjoy them.

    8 here.

Some have a story and are staying put. I keep wanting to slim things down but end up adding whenever I try. I’m already mulling over 2022 changes.

4 that I wear, of which one has probably found a new home. Also old seiko I rarely wear, but has sentimental value.

25, plus a couple of project watches to fix up and sell (eventually). Definitely ought to cull the collection next year and move a few on.

Inspired by this thread, I started a spreadsheet. I've accounted for 75 so far. Apparently I have 17 Casios and 12 Seikos.

It’s about 60 wearable, plus projects.
It could be and has been worse.
Why? Because I can and I want to. I am a selfish sod.

    Nine.

I’m not quite sure how that happened 😐

There are two or three i’m keen to acquire and I suspect I need to sell a few.

In an ideal world I would like to get down to three.

  24. #24
Five for me. Happy with this and don’t need or want anymore at the moment.

  25. #25
9 but that includes three gifts. There’s definitely room to consolidate a bit more though. I see two leaving to make room for one next year.

7 for me which I think is my limit. Just curious why some people think some watches don't count in their collection amount?

Between 50 and 60. Because I get enjoyment out of them & I’d rather have the watch than the money.

I have got it down to four watches currently. Three automatics and one manual. I am not sure I will go much more than that, it is likely that I will max out at 5.

    Merry Christmas all.

More than 60, I stopped counting.

Even when I look at the collection there's only about 5 I would sell if I ever got round to it.

I do have a lot of old Casio digital watches though, so in terms of proper watches it's probably <20.

    Three.

Collection has been thinning over the years. Back in about 2011-ish, prior to Rolex becoming unobtainable and the general rise in price of luxury watches, I had a large collection with a not insignificant proportion of my savings tied up in it. Since then, I've been gradually reducing my collections total worth. Probably a dumb move considering how much I could have made on my sports Rolex but I honestly don't think they are worth the prices people pay these days and I subsequently lost interest. Still love watches, but I'm more into mid level brands like Longines/Tudor which give me more enjoyment.

14 and one incoming. Will try to sell 4/5 as it's a dilemma every 2 days...What shall I wear today? 10 is surely enough. 4 old Smiths, base Sinn, base Nomos, Muhle Glashutte M2, base Stowa, Junghans x 2 amonst them. Looking at the list it's England 4 v Germany 6 with another MG chronograph (38mm) incoming. Blimey, better get some more Smiths. Bugger!

Suffered a little 'mission creep' in the last year so, excluding the mandatory G-Shock, am currently at six. Since I think one smart and one sports works best for me, am intending to offload 4 asap in the new year.

c15. I've told myself I'll stop when I get to double figures.

P.S. Relieved to see I'm a lightweight compared to many on this thread!

22 plus one on order for late 2022 delivery and one Rolex expression of interest.

Rationally, more than I should have, but I’m pretty happy and not looking to significantly add or subtract.

Went upto to 50+ but now down to around 23. Ideally want to get below 20 as I feel that’s far more manageable for me.

I have 10 watches, which are all worn in rotation plus a Protrek, which I wear when out hiking.
It's a constant battle to avoid increasing the collection and I have a strict one in one out policy now.

12 main watches, 2 are beaters being a G-Shock and F-91W the other 10 are watches I really wanted at some point in time and have kept my appreciation for them, would like to add more but 2021 has been a very quiet watch buying year for me, my only purchase being the Casio F-91W all for £5!!

4 in and 2 out this year.
Current total 11 - or 12 if I can find my Citizen Promaster diver, but the last time I remember wearing it, I was mixing concrete, so I might not see that again.

I’d like to get the collection to single figures but there are a number I’d like to add and only really one or two I’d be happy letting go.

I’m down to only 2 - from 5 at the beginning of the year… a bit of consolidation and a bit of rationalisation. Sold a ceramic Daytona that I just wasn’t comfortable wearing anymore after a couple of unsolicited comments received, making me feel conscious of the rising value. Also sold my third Moonwatch (will I ever learn?)… So now just a SubC and a BLNR left.

18 for me; as high as about 30 in the past. Tried to get down to 5 but I just love the variety I guess.

Three. Been through 20 over 15 years of participating here.
Just acquired my best yet - a Tudor BB36, which I think is going to enable me to offload two, an Everest 36mm and a Hamilton Khaki Field. I calculated that I’d lost £2000 on buying and selling over the years, so I now spent the same on something superior, to become a 1 watch person! I hope.
    Happy Christmas!

Three for me as well, and a Tudor BB36 is also the watch that I think will see me stop flipping. A quartz tuna and a g-shock are the other two, for an all-bases covered collection (in my view).
    Merry Christmas all.

    how many watches

About 7 now, but really 4 in rotation and one (JLC reverso) that barely sees daylight unfortunately.

  45. #45

How many watches do you own ?

11 - including an apple watch and a beater .

In 15 years of being interested in watches I’ve only sold 4 watches .

I went through a few years of not buying any then this year bought 3 and find myself looking at more .

    20 odd

I stopped in 2017 then cracked in 2019 and added another Sinn and then 2 from Eddie..........2 more from Eddie next year then that's definitely it

3 premium (to me) Sub, SMP and Aquatimer

    7 Sinn

    5 TFs

And some odds and sods from Glycine, Seiko and Steinhart.

PS I've never sold a watch

Four but one of those is going to a new home next week.

  48. #48
    Easily 60+ for me.

. . . and that’s after a recent cull of anything broken or badly out of favour.

Reckon I’ve bought more than 20 since lockdown 1.

My 2 ‘main’ watches of a Tudor S&G Chrono on bracelet and a Breitling Navitimer Chrono GMT on blue Croc seem to suit most occasions and I have endless G Shocks and tool watches for anything rough.

Anyway, the number of watches is one thing, it’s the straps I’m most embarrassed about!

    Cheers,
    M

The watch box is now full again (8 slots) so nine in total.
I was trying to get down to three but I’m thinking of another in the sales if it is in a sale somewhere and I’m waiting for an Airking so (at least) two will have to go.
