Rolex bracelet, circle on link

I was wondering what is this circle good for. Its on a sd16600 corresponding bracelet from the back side on one of the links. Would anyone know?

I think its something to do with releasing the divers extension, press it and the extension pops out.

Its an ingenious little piece of tech. I remember being impressed with it on my first 16600 and then latterly on my 16610LV.

You often find people remove them from bracelets as an extra link not realising its purpose.

TBH, I have yet to read a single instructions booklet.
Once the watch is sized the box/papers are stored away never to be opened and sometimes never to be found:-)
