Bit of a gift - what do you think?

I was following this watch on the auction and reckon I should have dived in.

I think someone has got themselves a bargain.

Looks like the perfect watch for an old retired postie

I've never liked this style, certainly not for a male - and definitely an older person's watch imo (albeit an older person with decent eyesight to be able to read the dial).

That said, I assume you're not asking for strangers' opinions on the watch itself (totally subjective), but more on the price. I can't offer any advice on the price, as these don't interest me.

Not sure if it's a 'gift' or not at that price - if it's to your taste then why not?.

I think it's beautiful, I'd never be smart enough to pull that off though. No idea what sort of price I'd have expected it to fetch though.

I must admit that recently I have become taken with rectangular and pin cushion shaped watches such as the Rolex Cellini Prince, JLC Reverso and some Patek Gondolos.

Audemars Piquet are almost up with PP in terms of quality and the price did seem a bit of a steal. I can see the old man image thing but even so.

Probably is an “older man’s watch” style but I’ve always fancied a Reverso so why not?

    I just can’t like 2-4-6-8-10 dials. I much prefer a 3-6-9 layout.

I think it is gorgeous and would be at home on a young as well as an old person.
Not sure if it’s a steal or not but I would definitely buy it at that price.

Reminds me of the old Hamilton watches, I like it a lot.

It’s stylish and it’s different. Lots of folks on this forum seen to favour one style only, I’m all in favour of diversity in a collection.

I would need to see this on the wrist to decide whether it ticked the box or not; ongoing mantenance costs could be a worry......especially if that crystal got damaged!

I agree it looks to be a bit of a bargain but it's pointless looking longingly at past auctions - it only shows you the pain threshold of the person who came second. I think it's gorgeous and I had to pinch myself that it's a watch from the 90s. I'd be a bit put off by the seeming oxidisation on the sub-seconds hand - I have that on watches from the 30s, 40s & 50s but not on something from 1995. Mind you, I'm sure AP would sort that out for you - except it would then be a £4.6kish watch which doesn't sound so keenly-priced.
    In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.

Like the style of it, but then I like a lot of vintage watches, but for me they are all just too small.
Price wise? Who knows but for a gold watch from a major brand? Going to be right for some.

I am driving the wife nuts with gawping at Youtubes and Google etc and I am veering very fast to the JLC Reverso. I think I am going to zone in on either a fairly recent gold or steel Taille with a brown leather strap. The more I look at them, the more I like them. Dual GMT function.
