Specs Steaming up with a mask?

I found my old motorcycling anti fog (Rain X) liquid in the garage and found that it works great on my specs when wearing a mask. Hope this helps for somebody else.

What many medics use is a double sided tape across the top of the mask, to stop steam escaping upwards. There are many non- allergic tapes that can be used.

Check out advice on the BBC news website. One of the simple tips works for me, wish I’d thought of it myself ages ago

There are different versions of Rain-X for glass and plastic.

Try the glass version on the glaze of your bathroom basin............ great seeing the water disappear.

When I saw the thread title I read it as a request for advice, so came on to suggest Rainex...

But here's another tip if you're caught out without Rainex: spit onto the inside of your spectacles, rub it around and then rinse off with water.

Might work for you, but not for me.

    Not so simple.

Agree. Problem is ill fitting mask and breath escaping at the top - like this goes directly under the specs.

Rain x on spectacles isn’t a great idea, can damage coatings etc.

There are spectacle safe versions which work but I hate. Instead of a fog, you get droplets forming on the lens, simply swapping one issue for another. Decent masks, that fit well over the bridge of the nose are a far better option.

Rub a little shaving foam or gel onto your glasses and then buff with a soft cloth, works a treat. Also works great on the inside of your visor for the motorcyclists on the forum, very necessary up here in Scotland at this time of year.

I use no fog wipes. Brilliant

Fairy liquid contains salt which again can ruin tense coatings, I used fairy on my glasses when motorcycling and general cleaning, the lenses eventually were ruined.
