It has been strong winds all day here in Edinburgh, and they closed the Xmas market down early today around safety concerns.

Dutch online newspapers write about Arwen and the very unusual 'Code Red' forecast. According to the same online article, the NE and Scotland will be in the direct line of the storm. Any updates (yet)?
We, here on the Continent, only expect some rain and light snow.

Windy and bitterly cold with snow flurries here on the North East coast. Worse is yet to come apparently.
A load of tosh over a little wind. The closure of the drab Christmas market, now that's a +ve !
Bit windy here on north west coast. Nothing we can't handle.
It's getting a bit blowy out and started to pi$$ down here in the Palatinate. I think a winter warmer or two may be in order later . . .
F.T.F.A.
Very cold here in Darlington, but the wind is nothing like the Met Office predicted.
It’s a breeze in the north , if it was in the south of England it would be a catastrophe.

I've been to Scotland in the past and I was amazed (and impressed) by the thick walls of the B&Bs we visited. One on the Isle of Luing near Oban had walls at least 50cm thick - and a big Honda generator in the barn in case of a power outage. So yes, I can see that it's 'not a thing we can't handle'. Therefore I was amazed by the Code Red situation.
Aberdeen’s a tad breezy - the lights keep flickering which is pretty amusing.
Sleet here in guisborough, and bloody cold!
Spam and please pudding buns for tea, very warming!
Second from the left is one of my favourites, it reminds me I have to order another bottle or two.
As for the storm, nowt much here in The Forest of Dean at the moment but I think it's due to hit us later and seeing as we are up quite a depth it should be interesting.
As for me, the log burner is lit, I have a very nice glass of Australian red, and pork tenderloin for tea, life's not so bad!!
Stay safe everyone.
Lots of trees down in Aberdeenshire, a static caravan blown over and the inbound LHR flight has been sat on the runway for almost 2 hours as it's too windy to hook up the exit stairs ...
Lots of houses without power too.
Cheers,
Adam.
Here in West Lothian it was sunny and barely any breeze until lunchtime. Bit blustery now but guessing the storm must be quite localised and 20-30 miles east of us
Glasgow was sunny but cold today . Beautiful blue skies all the way up and back .
Bit blowy now in Manchester .
The neighbours trampoline now requesting flight clearance from Air Traffic Control to transition to 10,000 feet.
Outskirts of Darlington. Been really chilly today, car said 3c when I left for school pick up, feels well below that now. Now sleeting which is building up on the cars. Just walked the dogs and its proper windy, but weirdly seems to only be windy high up, trees are making a racket, but can hardly feel it at ground level

She's just claimed her first scalp here in Liverpool. Just glad it fell toward our drive and not the neighbors....
The posts were rotten at the base. Should be a relatively easy fix but it'll have to wait until the weather calms down.

25 mph consistent winds here in West Wales , gusts of 60mph. Certainly not a day for hill walking
On the North York Moors the pressure has been dropping through the day, though not at the lowest I've seen. Wind has noticeably started to pick up in the last hour after an earlier brief fall of snow, which is now melting away.

Just been almost shaken out of our beds by a massive clap of thunder, woke everyone in the house and some others in the street as there are a few bedroom lights on. I've lived here for 30 years and never known weather like it.
Glad we had a new roof fitted recently, think the old one would have been long gone otherwise.

First snow here in staffs moorlands (inch possibly)and blowing a gale.
Been up during the night securing things that've never needed securing before, the wind gusts here are remarkable.
We were going to be trekking up on Dartmoor today...
Stay safe.

The Met Office were reporting overnight gusts of up to 98 mph overnight.

Still very strong winds here on the North East coast, doesn't feel like the strength has decreased at all.

Wife has just got in from a night shift. Trees down all over the place here, road to 1 villiage completely blocked by a fallen tree and half blocked by another the other way
lots of snow in the west midlands , cant remember the last time it snowed like this in november.
Wind here in Wiltshire very bad, just been outside assessing the damaging
So far a missing cover, 2 broken pots, a blown over blue bin and plastic everywhere
Now it’s just started snowing
All in all a bad night here, awake half the night listening to the wind

Some leaves have blown from the trees and it looks as if it rained here in West London.
No sign of a storm at all.

Neighbour's dog was out in it - opened it's mouth to bark................................

and could only fart.
I was in a hotel in the Lake District overnight so not exactly in the area covered by the highest warnings.
At least one broken window and a large number of roof tiles missing.
Bloke killed after being hit by a tree not far from here.

Had to get up at 2.30am to make a brew.
The wind was blowing the rain so hard against the bedroom window, sounded like pebbles against the glass. The gusts sounded like thunder against the brickwork. Luckily no damage.
Awake a large part of the night, huge gusts of wind rattling the dormer. Just gone outside and two greenhouse panes smashed, damn. Could be far worse though, hope everyone is safe.

The gust were pretty wild here in Fife and reading the local news and Facebook pages it seems there are a lot of trees down blocking roads.
It’s exciting having some proper weather every now and again though, provided everyone is safe obviously.
Well I think it fair to say my region (Middlesbrough) got smashed last night (awaiting the 'who'd notice' jokes) woke this morning to find the shed door blown open and the lock bent over, all the plant pots blown over and all the covers off the furniture in the back, just watching the fence (considering its only a year old) it does seem to be flexing quite a bit...
Big dents in the wife’s car due to flying roof tiles off neighbour house
Neighbour lost fence and summerhouse to a tree in the woods at the rear.......... they'd started to thin/crown them 2wks ago......
That’s my biggest fear as well with the thousands of trees on my property. Lots of trees here got damaged during the extremely dry summers in ‘18, ‘19 and ‘20. I’ve pruned and cut a lot of them already, but still…
Lots of Damage and Disruption in North Northumberland
Roofs of houses, chimneys down, roads blocked with hundreds of trees down.
Fences, Sheds, Greenhouses gone.

Next doors garage roof is in their front garden, so relieved the wind direction took it that way and not into ours, it would have smashed into the wife's car on the drive.

No water this morning

Up at Crimdon Dene there is a static caravan park, right at the top of hill overlooking the North Sea. The park has been evacuated as its carnage with a number of caravans destroyed. I think its just as windy now as it was during the night.

Very windy round this way last night (so the wife informed me) but I didn’t hear a thing and slept through the lot. One of the rare occasions that being hard of hearing has its advantages.
We replaced 3/4 of our fences in the summer and they’re fine so far. The remaining fence between us and next door is old and he refused to have it replaced at the same time as ours, tying it with pathetic pieces of string. Well, it’s gone now!!
