How much does a rail card save per journey ? Is it worth it if I use the train 3 or 4 times a year?
Thanks for the heads up, SWMBO has just bought herself a 3 year card via the promotion.

All railcards are discounted by 50% as per my original message…this is for the 1 year and 3 year options.
You can buy railcards for £10 worth of clubcard points but only 16-25 year old, disabled persons, family & friends, senior and two together cards and only for 1 year.
If it’s good timing then arguably the current -50% deal is far superior.
Thanks for the heads up. Just bought a 2 travelling together railcard for £15 and saved more than that on a trip to London with the wife next week! Well happy.
If the -50% deal had been on offer when I renewed my Senior Rail Card I'd have taken that for the 3 year option, for the ease of not having to renew for a long while, albeit £5 more than 3 x £10. However if the £10 Clubcard deal is available for the card you want then -66% would seem to be a better deal. Either way, I pop up to Newcastle at least every other week and 4 of those short trips pays for the card, a day in York or Edinburgh gets it back in one go. Last time I went down to London the £28 return was a bit of a snip. A pal of mine who's turned 70 has a season ticket for Millwall (long story) and gets a train down at @ 5.30am, back home by 11ish, saves a fortune.

Thanks for the post. My 17 year old has some university offer days coming up so will order him a 16-17 year old railcard for half price fares.
Assume offer is gone now as shows standard price of £30 :(

You are too late.
The offer was advertised as being available until December 17th. Obviously thetrainline has decided that they’ve sold too many and have cancelled the code.
I bought a Network Railcard earlier today for fifteen quid using RAILCARD50
Thanks for the heads-up.

Very rarely travel by train but seems so complicated.
For example, I imagined a Network Railcard would cover the rail network.
