Sad news, he was obviously well-regarded by those who knew him personally. Although I sometimes disagreed with him he always had something interesting to say, his passion for watches was clear to see.

Likewise, went to his home to deliver a watch to him, he was very hospitable and insisted on taking me out for lunch. RIP🙁

I went to the BBC with my brother to meet peter not realising he was the news room editor that was the kind of person he was very humble. Over these years we became very close friends there was a time where we would speak every day for at least 20 years. He was like a father to me and helped me at the start of my business I was 14 at the time and also helped me throughout with wise words of wisdom. I in one sense introduced to watches many years back when i purchased a Patek nautilus power reserve for £6000 back in those days band new which seemed a lot of money back then lol. Around 2105 peter lost his interest in audio but increased his passion for watches. I spoke to peter on Friday while he was in hospital, and was meant to visit him this week sadly this never happened i got the sad news on Sunday after a phone call from his partner. Peter will be missed by many who knew him for his kindness and generosity and someone who was never afraid to speak his mind I for one most certainly miss my old friend
He seemed like a hell of a guy, hope he gets the peace he deserves and you and his loved ones eventually find acceptance and comfort on his memory.

Just a small example of the guy that Peter was. He knew I liked my cars and bikes, so when a relative of his was visiting goodwood FoS and stopped over at his, he got straight on the phone and asked if i'd like to come and check out the car he was racing there. He then also gave me and my son free tickets to FoS, an event we'd never been to. Pete was someone I only met through the forum, and we didn't see each other much, but taking the time to let me come and climb all over this, and then the gesture of free tickets shows just the kind generous nature Peter had.

I remember him telling me about this indeed he was very generous and kind he mentioned you went to see the car he said its nice to see others smile that was his nature. I remember when he ran the news room at the bbc and him having to go in at 3am when princess diana died he called me to tell me what had happened I said are you getting other in too help he said I would rather have them rest I can manage.

    Very sad to hear that.
One of the well kent names and if memory serves had got himself a nice white gold Daytona recently which he was delighted with.
I enjoyed his little disagreements with Haywood too which were entertaining and better to be remembered than not at all.
    RIP Paskinner

Very sad to hear that news, he was one of those names that regularly popped up with good posts and got properly involved in the forum.

I see his last post mentioned about watches should be purchased to be enjoyed rather than for monetary purposes, he certainly had a point.

Thanks for all your contributions Peter..

I'm shocked and sad to see this news. Peter was a gent and my first watch purchase was with him, so will always remember his enthusiasm. RIP.
