Been looking at this Rolex 16700…

I tried this on today. 1995 Rolex 16700 GMT Master Pepsi.

I was surprised that the dial says GMT Master, not GMT Master II. Is that correct for a 1995 model with white gold plot surrounds?

What about the rest of the watch? Photos from the website & not that great.

Does the bracelet clasp look correct? Bracelet doesn’t have a lot of stretch

Does the case look polished. The case back has a worn green sticker on it. It’s worn but you can just make out the Rolex crown & model reference.

Finally, ball park figure on price?

    Thanks in advance chaps

A quick image search would indicate that GMT-Master is correct.

    Not what I thought either

Been looking at this Rolex 16700…

All 16700s are GMT Master (no independently adjustable hour hand) so correct on that front

    It’ indeed looks polished :P

Wasn’t the difference between the GMT Master and GMT Master II the movement?

The Master has a quick set date whilst the Master II has an independent hour hand?

Correct for a gmt master 16700 dial I’d say definitely polished especially the clasp/ bracelet

Had one of those bought and sold through the forum about Ten or more years ago-when they were worth about £2.5k.
I found the crown annoyingly small. It is a generally handsome piece, certainly one of the classics - but the crown put me off the whole watch.

It has b&p so maybe ball park then

Is it me or the lugs are not symmetrical? It’s not a Daytona, so should be even.

    I have a 16700 from 1990.

    Few things I'd call out...

The gmt master doesn't have an independently adjusted 24 hour hand, it is directly connected to the timr shown on hour hand (although it runs at half speed to indicate time via bezel)

Bracelet clasp is tiny (as they all are)

Agree with comment above about crown being small vs crown guard height

These didn't sell well as they were priced under the gmt2 and seen as a more basic product vs the 2 which has independently adjustable 24h hand

Looks quite polished to me - coronet on bracelet clasp looks very faded albeit it’s a blurred picture!

£12.5k sounds too much for this.

Been looking at this Rolex 16700…

I had a 16700 from new and it didn’t have a clasp like that (it had the additional flip lock and stamped pattern to mimic links). No idea if bracelets changed between yours and 1999 when I got mine (one of the very last apparently)
TBH I found the quick set date movement more useable than the GMT 2 for those pesky short months, which occurred far more often than my international travels.

Looks fairly sharp to me, the older movement without the independently adjustable hour hand would put me off but if you want this reference then you could do a lot worse

Nice watch but how prices have changed, I really struggled to sell mine late 2013 and after trying every dealer finally took £2.4k for it from WF having purchased it from them a year earlier for £3k!

It’s looks just like mine. The 16700 GMT doesn’t have an dependant 24 hour hand, the 16710 GMT 2, does. Both have quick set dates. The 16700 had a shorter production run so is actually rarer.

Regarding the clasps, virtually all GMT came with flip lock only clasps.

Ref the watch in photos, it looks as if it’s been polished, but remember it’s 25 odd years old so has mostly likely been serviced at some point. Looks ok to me. Ref the clasp it should have date code, which should be of similar vintage to the watch. If not and assuming it later it a replacement, but that’s a bit of a so what.

Dial and hands good fine, but I bet the lume is dead as a dodo or very near to it. That all are. If not it’s been retouched.

£12.5 even with B&P sounds strong, but we live in crazy times.

Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.
